I'd say you missed something. I said that not only do we freely discuss all sorts of illegal activities, but that all of said activities and discussion thereof is liable to draw in people who may contribute negatively to real life wrecks. Street racing is a ******* SCAPEGOAT, GOT IT?! It's not just here, it's all over America that all of a sudden street racing is killing your kids so it must be stopped at all costs! People are brainwashed and the mods have allowed that bias to influence their decision here.

Yes, if it's illegal, it potentially harms the driver or those around him. Those who perform any or all of the activities you've mentioned may be getting by because they have the skills to apply themselves and not create trouble. Not everyone is skilled. As you said
People are dumb as ****
. Once it appears that "everyone is doing it" you'll have the ricers and drifters and other know-it-alls (who think reading about it on the internet is akin to "having skills") endangering people's lives and expecting to get kudos for it from the rx7club (or wherever). If on the other hand they get flamed for street racing wherever they go, it suddenly won't be cool anymore and there'll be fewer morons on the streets attempting to cut people off just to prove they can. You wanna race? Take it to a track or an endless empty highway.

Now if only there was a way to flame soccer moms en masse.

For the record... I'm boycotting the vendors, but that's because i have a mazdamotorsports membership.
werd.

It's interesting to me to note that some guys here are all adamant that people here should speak up and make themselves heard...but only if it's in support of their cause.

to anyone who assumes that this forum will suffer from this negative publicity, consider...there are ...not one, but TWO alternative rotary forums created by members of this forum. (In fact, there may be more that I simply don't know about.) That was their attempt to have more open moderation and all that good stuff. They do a good job too. But the rx7club has not suffered any sort of mass migration as a result of these new forums. I doubt that more than 5% of the members of those forums have completely stopped visiting the rx7club. And I don't foresee that changing in the near future.

Let's hear some unbiased facts and opinions on the positive aspects of illegal street racing. Then people might consider supporting you. Otherwise, all your ranting is just dust in the wind.

Street racing has been around since the automobile. Why the **** should we come onto a forum and talk about it? Its not cool to gloat, kids.

This thread fails on more levels than I once thought a human could fail on.

And for the record, I think every forum that IB bought out is making the same changes. Corvetteforums has just done the same thing by changing their "kills section" to a "Legally sanctified racing section".

I suggest that if you want to brag about your latest conquest on public streets that you take it elsewhere.

The kills section on this website just brought about a huge wave of kids who were "drifting around the competitor" because of how "badass" they were with their "mad tyte skillz" and their "Uber-tastic drifting." or whatever. ******* stupid.

And IBTL. At least, I hope this thread gets locked.

PLEASE tell me you arent serious with this crap...

Let's roll this one, as you posted it...

Tell me, how many people were killed in the US last year as a direct result of someone removing the catalytic converter from their car's exhaust? Any idea?

ZERO....NONE.....NOT ONE.

Now, how many people were killed as a direct result of illegal street racing last year??

Your argument is like comparing jaywalking to murder, and saying that they should be treated the same. Bullshit.....

Let's also remember something else--all these other illegal things you mentioned--how do you think that the car you just described--no cats, modified seatbelts and exterior lights, etc etc--how exactly do you think that car is likely to end up in the crash you mentioned?? WOW--probably by ILLEGAL STREET RACING!! Thats because half of the people who mod these cars are TFATF inspired idiots who dont know how to drive and cannot handle the power of a modified car. SO....they modify the car, they now think it's a race car or something, then go out on the street thinking they are Billy BigNuts....and want to race everything in sight when the light turns!

OR---you could be smart and take it to a friggin track like youre supposed to. Let's start with a little common sense here, please--a car is a projectile. It is a potential killing tool even at normal road speeds. And then, when youre doing 90 in a 35 mph zone, and you wreck into the old lady who just bought bread at the store, youre the dumbass. Youre the dumbass because your illegal street racing just killed someone, NOT because you took the damn cat off the car.

EDIT--finally, this is a point that someone needs to clue you in on. Let's say youre street racing and you kill two people. Prosecutors want to charge you with the crime of manslaughter. Serious deal....could put you in jail for years. I dont suppose you ever gave any thought to the fact that it is relatively easy today to follow the e-trail to see where you've been online? What you have posted on message boards and forums? If you just killed two people, and you have a history of posting all about your previous street racing activities online, when the prosecution finds it they will hang you by your nuts on your own words. These days the internet is being used against people who are ignorant enough to post whatever they like online, like they have some sort of anonymity in the process. All it would take is a court order delivered to the owner of this forum, and the IP info for the posts made under your screen name would be in their hands. So, let's not be stupid--take this crap elsewhere already. There is a time and a place for everything and on a public road, that isnt the place for racing cars.

Go look at the whole thing with Hulk Hogan's son--the family made comments on a video a long time back about how they love street racing, and then Nick drives like a douche bag and makes his friend a vegetable. Those comments have already come back to bite them in the ***.

You are absolutely wrong and I dont feel you have even been a member of this forum long enough to know. Allow me to explain why:
The decline of this forum has not been some kind of recent event. Its been a long slow steady decline now for years. It really hasnt been one specific thing though. Its been multiple reasons that pissed multiple people off at those times. I've lost count how many time personally, but each event lost its share of members. Other forums have been created and theres certainly more than 2. Search. theforumlounge.com for example is filled with old rx7club members. Its pretty much a total free speech forum. So what has all this led to?
Four or five years ago (maybe lil further back) you could post on this forum and it didnt matter in what section it was or whether it was a new thread all together and you would have replies almost immediatly. Tons of people were logged in all the time.
Then people began flaming each other and arguments erupted costantly. Mods get sick of babysitting. Ask them. This led to stricter rules. Which created a snowball effect leading to present day. SO...now we're left with a lil conundrum of sorts. Strict forum, and people bitch. Loose forum and people will bitch with each other. So theres gonna be bitching regardless. Each side has its benefits and pitfalls.

As for where I stand on the current event, I've already stated I feel that a legal disclamer and keeping the kills section alive would benefit both sides. However, I dont feel boycotting vendors who are here to help with parts for YOUR car is helping any. Its like masturbation, sure it feels good at the moment but your really only ******* yourself. I'm for the kills section but I'm not about to boycott vendors. And its not even that I'm really for the kills section itself. I just believe in free speech.

Once again you guys completely missed my point. It's much less that modified things on a vehicle will cause deaths, but much more that people attracted to such things may cause deaths.

Also, I said people are brainwashed because street racing is getting undue heat just because the media is making it sound like an addictive, mind altering drug that cannot under any circumstances be done reasonably safely.

Ok, now back to reality land....illegal street racing is going to happen with or without a "kills section".........the kills have ALREADY taken place. The illegal part has already happened....who the hell cares if somebody talks about the story on a forum? You telling people they can't tell a story isn't going to stop them from street racing.

A psycho murders a family...do you tell the media they can't talk about it? No...because that would be retarded. It would be pointless. You'd just be taking a freedom for no reason....

Somebody asked how many deaths were caused by street racing. Well according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 135 fatalities related to street racing in '01 (couldn't find any newer stats). That's out of 42,196 automotive related deaths total. If my math's right, that's about 3%.

Tell you what, what if we put the illegal kills section back if we can mock you all for the tickets, car impounding, and innocent people you could kill. Also you have to post a video of you singing "I'm a little tea-pot" while wearing a diaper. Yes that would be gay, as would having a illegal kills section.

This gentleman in the Carrera GT just so happened to be Dario Franchitti and then the OP went and hung out with him later....

Yeah, that was an awesome story.

Yes, because there's obviously thousands of people getting killed by street racing. Just like everything else in this life, there are certain things that need a great deal of caution to be done. You don't go shooting down a trail on a mountain bike without gear on, just like you wouldn't try to drag race down the middle of main street. Both of these things, mountain biking and street racing, can be safe, or at least have the dangers marginalized, with a little bit of caution and foresight. "What if I hit a rock and fly off of my bike, I could hit my head and die." Better wear a helmet then. "What if a car pulls out in front of us while we're racing?" Better go to a road where there aren't adjacent streets. Could something still happen? Yes, you could fly off of your mountain bike and impale yourself on a tree limb or your tire could pop while you're racing and you'd flip the car. Both of those cases were accidents caused by doing the activity that you love, but what fun would life be if you didn't take ANY chances at all?

There is a ton of difference between a murderer who talks about the murders he has done and the media talking about the murders he's done. Are you that ignorant to see that? Talking about a crime you have done makes you guilty without being caught. It is admitting guilt. Someone else talking about the crime you've done is just words. Could be truth, could be made up. If you ever watch the news you can see first hand how much **** is at least hidden.

The only thing I see taking this forum downhill are the members bitching about EVERYTHING, change happens. Deal with it or get the **** out. There is nothing we can do about the forum being acquired by IB, what we can do is try and make it as a good a place as possible. <- Someone is going to disect this sentence, so in advance shut the **** up.
