while the debut of my CPR Low Drag turbo manifold was the primary motivating factor in becoming a vendor (again) there were also a number of other specific influencing factors.
the most fundamental reason, however, is that i believe the FD is a potential SUPERCAR.
since 1999, i have been attempting to change potential to actual.
while we appreciate our cars, they present significant challenges especially in the engine bay.
these challenges should be viewed as a chain. one weak link and the chain breaks. the most important lesson i learned in 22 seasons of real racing was that everything has to be done 100%. do it 95% and the other 5% will fail the entire effort 100%.
our unique power plants, being turbocharged, present significant reliability challenges... at 255 hp or 600. the challenge is always greater than you think.
build it right, tune it right and the FD has no equal while being happy to go to the store.
CPR is about helping you get there whether you are happy with just a few mods or want the ability to do 600 now and then.
i am of the view that there are certain components that should be on many of our cars that aren't primarily due to lack of marketing. Going forward, marketing would be me.
after racing for 16 seasons (SCCA Nationals & the Runoffs), the last 6 for Mazda ( 2nd at the Runoffs at Road Atlanta before the chicane removal defanged the track, 27 National wins, track records at all CENDIV tracks, winning the June Sprints twice) doing most of my engineering, much of which was one of a kind at the time, i bring a lot to the table. i have done nothing unusual other than to focus for a long time. i still have the same focus..
. .
i do not use the term SUPERCAR lightly. sure, i know our plastic fantastic interiors are a bit Ugo-esque... (perhaps w digital scanning we will see that uprated).... but for me, handling and braking capability are just as important as go power. my suspension thread has over 429,000 reads. so don't think my ability to help your project is limited to the engine compartment.
"CPR" is not a "shop," has no employees that are here today and gone tomorrow... just me and my allied partners. as you may know i have been building to one CPR Spec 13BREW motors for customers since January 2010. somewhere around 200+, all to the same spec. often, my engine customers have told me that my ongoing advice was as much a value as their motor. i have appreciated that as i have always considered my motors "family" and we want good outcomes.
incoming calls for advice are appreciated as the community is family.
if you are pondering a decision on a particular component, or just starting your FD project let's talk. i won't have all the answers but i will listen and try to be of help. feel free to call 7 days a week. Central Time Zone. i am available from 8 til 3 and from 6:30 til 8:30 evenings. of course you can text or email me at any time.
i will be rolling out a series of specific threads on various items i would like you to know more about in the next few days.
Fantastic news and glad you are helping us all out as I still have the screen shot of alignment setting I give to the shop whenever I have them do work on the car.
