WTFs from the Snowstorm today.

Well, snow is coming down crazy but I still decided to go visit the mall for some shopping. Driving on the 401 to 427 to Sherway Gardens and back, I made some observations:

Things that made me go WTF:

1) People so freaked out that they drive 30kph on the hwy.
2) People that are freaked out but still talk on the phone.
3) While talking on the phone and being freaked out, they drive in a Z pattern.
4) They can't see because they didn't clean their windows of snow and ice and proceed to cut everyone off while driving in a big Z.
5) They finally realize they can't see and either stop on the right most lane or left most lane on the HIGHWAY to clean the snow. This is the BIGGEST WTF ... don't they care about safety????

6) A Porsche Cayanne out dragged me at the lights in my MS6 with Blizzaks. He was cool.

Thinks that didn't make me go WTF:

1) The snow thunderstorm.

I didn't go ANYWHERE today. Got owned by 3+ foot deep snow in my driveway.

I really wanted to get more work done on the GTR but it just wasn't going to happen.

I shovelled the snow on my driveway at 2pm today. Got around 30cm.

After I got back from the Mall, it's back to 30cm .... dammit.

Wow, looks like the Ottawa guys are getting screwed!

Ottawa got hammered. my drive to work today was interesting to say the least, Port Hope doesn't plow EVER for some odd reason. highway 2 was fairly easy to go through though. and got to do a few dohnuts(sp?) in the parking lot when we closed though.

There was a fire hydrant between mine and my neighbour's place. It disappeared and it is still snowing heavy here in York Region.

Kinda reminds me of an old expression - "dude thinks he's hot $#/+, but really he's cold diarrhea". Or maybe it's cool as in "a cold day in hell" - as in never happens.

Shame about your weather - I BBQ'd tonight, and I just came in from sanding some lumber on my front step - in a t-shirt. Of course, we did have about 2 weeks of -30C weather back in January - but at least its a dry, bitter, deadly cold when we have it

Snow was crazy today.

I am not sure why but the 2000 STS that I am using my winterbeater this year is the worst FWD ever for the snow, it seems to bottom out if there is anymore than 6 inches of snow.

Funny because I thought the Stability system, traction control, FWD would have made it a really good comfortable winter beater.

if anyone is contemplating getting one of these as a winter beater .. DON'T!

tempted to pull out the GTR, slap some snows on it and use it for the rest of the season. lol, jk.

I F-ing love the snow. I can't wait to move back home (ottawa) in a few years. My Land Rover is fully prepped for snow wheeling and we get f-all for weather around here.

But on the other hand, it was nice enough to cruise around in the Rx-7 yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that. And......

Global warming my ***!!!

My back is broken from all the shoveling I've had to do.

I'm looking at jobs in Cali and Florida as I type this. 25yrs of this crap!! Enough is enough!

Thankfully today it's nice and sunny. Of course we lost an hour now. So after the shoveling I come back inside to find out the time is 3pm instead of 2pm!
I can't catch a break.

I really don't think people understand Global Warming. Global Warming does mean for an overall warming of the earth, with more water and less ice, the greater the amount of humidity in the air in both poles which in terms of countries near by would results in more rainy days ... and more snowy days also if its cool enough.

You say the same thing about looking for jobs elsewhere every winter

I don't know if it's so much don't understand - or that as Canadians we just like to focus on the "warm" part
"More extreme, more crappy" weather just doesn't roll off the tongue as well as "global warming", even if it is more reflective of our actual experience.

friday and yesterday were absolutely crazy here in Ottawa. the news says about 45cm of snow over the last 2 days.

some photos i took near my place...

all i can say is more people who live around here should have AWD vehicles.
after driving my parent's Subaru in weather like this, my next vehicle will be AWD.

I have at least 8 foot snow banks on each side of my driveway. So much snow.

But I went snowboarding all day (sunday). It was awesome. You can bail into 2 feet of soft snow in the sun today! It was like falling on pillows. LOL. Best way to learn!

I am afraid that there will be still snow on the roads for the DGRR meet!

yup, snowboarding is definitely sweet when it snows like this, much better than last year for that.

I spun out on the 427 after some ******* cut me off, I had to dig a 2WD pickup truck out of the snow for two hours, and then I rear ended someone on the way home after his car stalled at the lights (dumbass move, but the guy didn't care, so it's good for me). I don't particularly like snow anymore.

actually, global warming will make our winters snowier and more severe.

here's some evidence of that happening. :P
