Your right terrh. While global warming does generally warm the earth as a whole, it tends to create more severe weather. Just look at how many hurricanes they had down south this year. The severe winter weather is the result of the same phenomenon. Eventually, everything will even out again, but that won't be for a couple hundered years, or more. Expect to see more of this in the future. Winters will be shorter, but far snowier than in the past.
Personally, I say global warming is a myth. I believe this is just the natural cycle of the earth. Look into prehistoric times, even 10000 years ago. This warming trend is natural, although somewhat accelerated this time around. The scary part is that after each warming trend, there is an ice age where most of north america is covered in 10ft or more of ice and snow.

I waited until the snow stopped Sunday morning before starting to shovel. Started at 3am and finished at 6am but at least I only shoveled once

On Saturday I decided to drive to Detroit for AutoRama. While it was clear in London, as soon as I merged onto the 401 (sideways, by the way, thanks to the snow ridge formed at the end of the on-ramp) things went downhill. Was able to maintain about 60 KM/H until roughly halfway to Chatham at which point the wind and show combined to make a situation with 30 foot visibility. I should have turned around at that point but decided to continue anyway. At roughly 30 KM/H (the fastest possible speed...perhaps a bit faster then we should have been going) it took nearly 6 hours to arrive in Windsor. Lost count of how many jackknifed transports I saw, and how many people were in the ditch.
AutoRama was cool though. Had to stay in Windsor overnight and drive back yesterday morning.
