winter storage tip - vapour barrier

Before storing my car inside the barn (concrete floor) for the winter, I followed a lot of the tips found here:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=586025

I had never thought about putting a vapour barrier under the car but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try.

Anywho.....so I was out in the barn this weekend when the temps were a little higher and I was amazed at the amount of moisture that had accumulated under the plastic in just a week and a half.

So if you haven't already put her to bed for the winter...I'd recommend heading over to Rona to pick up a roll of plastic before you pull the battery.

Not a bad idea G-Man. Oh, of course there are cows in Richmond Hill, you just happen to live in the "downtown" area haha.

i did that Last year.I put down a 12 x9 sheet of plastic down under the Car.Then I tarped the car and attached the Tarp at the Wheels.I had Bungee cords Flopped over the car to Secure the Tarp from Wind etc.WE had so Much snow in my area, so much, the car was not Visible. But the car was Protected from the elements of Nature..and it Started up on First try.it's a Cheap way to do it when you can get to a storage facility..(think about it too.The Plastic sheeting underneath protects the Underbody from any Moisture created from the Run off of Snow, water etc,.Just roll it upwards at the Sides so that the water won't pool on the sheeting).

I just bought a 20x11 shelter, I'm going to be putting down 3-4 layers of 6mil barrier. Any ideas on what to put the jack stands on? Its unlevel dirt.. I was thinking of putting down 3 sheets of plywood, then concrete patio stones under the kack stands?

help is appreciated.

I Personally am opposed to putting the car ON stands for storage.I always put the car on Crappy Tires, and that way the Good Running tires don't get the brunt of the winter
The 11x20 Shelter is not going to be exactly Moisture free,so Really,I would just lay some Plastic, drive the car onto some Patio Stones,(ON crappy Tires of Course),and make sure the car is half decently level, and Safe.
Be aware of the fact that the Ground may get soft,so Try to have a "hard path" to get the car off the stones when it comes time to take her out for the Season.
Good luck.

Well, I've now got a 41,000 BTu propane heater. It should help, especially with some of this radiant heat reflective(tinfoil stuck to) vapour barrier I got a good deal on. As for jacking the car up, I plan on pulling the motor, cleaning and spraying the engine bay.

My plan was:
Car
Jack stand
Concrete Slab
Plywood
Vapour barrier
Tamped/ leveled dirt

Just wondering if a jackstand on a 18"x18" patio stone will hold, or will it crack?
I can also buy some crap metal and weld it to the jack stand to disperse weight evenly...

Iono.
