Who else on here is a "street racer"
please ignore b18cya, I posted this thread on our forums at www.upnorthimports.com and this guy is stiring up ****. He's been banned a number of times from our forums and he is on his way again.

also just for the record
intention being the key word.
2. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to cause some or all of its tires to lose traction with the surface of the highway while turning.

I'm curious, has anyone else been pulled over for the stupider aspects of the "street racing" law?
Take any vehicle with a manual transmission - if one unintentionally drops the clutch too fast in the right circumstances the tires squeal. Have a truck locked in 4wd and turn tightly, the tires squeal. Have the tires mildly under inflated in say a chevy astro and take a corner a little faster than you might normally - the tires squeal. None of these things mean that your vehicle is out of control or that you are driving in an unsafe manner.

Why is everyone getting upset over someone who only has 3 posts to their name??
He obviously wanted to join the forum to disturb the rest of us "street racers" or "stunters" (that's a funny word!).
And yes, there's a 99% chance that he owns a Honda! lol
Incubus,
Obviously the cop had nothing better to do that day. He saw some "stunting" and decided to give you hell.
Unfortunately we now live in a world where cops have the ultimate say.
What I want to know is why the people let this stupid and uterly useless law get passed?!
As far as I know everyone protested. And yet, the "law" got passed?!
I think I might take Rxcetera's advice and move to Europe. Ontario is slowly becoming a dictator province!

Seeing as the troll probably has the last name Wooley or Fantino, I wouldn't let him stir you up.
Fight it. They can't keep writing convoluded and imprecise blanket laws, it leaves so much up to discretion and last time I checked the police were just people like you and I. They have their own biases and dislikes that can skew such open ended legislation.
Keep fighting.

the real problem is that for everyone 1 of us who actually know what is going on and care to disagree about this "law", there are at least 10 others who don't really care and will go along with it.
THAT is why the damn thing got passed.

It may sound alarmist, but is worth remembering the ****'s were duly elected as the minority government of Germany in 1932 - and that from there they used fearmongering and nationalism to concentrate power and eliminate opposition. And they too enjoyed terrific public support, and little public questioning of either their means or the ends.
People might want to look up Bill C51 and C52, currently before Parliament. Bill C51, for example, is supposed to deal with pharmaceutical and food safety. Of enormous concern, IMO, is that it appears to give Health Canada agents, who may be appointed by the bureaucracy without any particular qualifications, or clear responsibility to the minister or Parliament, to have essentially unlimited powers of search and seizure, including bank accounts and property, if food or health products (undefined by the legislation) are "suspected" of being - dangerous? poorly prepared? whatever might be the fancy of the department? - without having to obtain warrants, and without recourse to the the courts. And if accounts and assets unrelated to the matter are seized, how would one defend oneself, if one somehow got a court to hear the matter? Supposedly to improve the safety of our food and vitamins and who knows what else - but without clear respect for the role of the courts and due process and preventing abuse by making government agents effectively judge, jury, and executioner. One might hope badly conceived legislation, especially in a minority government, might not see the light of day - but this has passed 2 readings in the House already.
Speak up against crap legislation, like Ontario's street racing laws or bill C51, that does nothing that previous legislation didn't already allow, except place undue powers in the hands of government agents without recourse to the courts, making abuse of power virtually inevitable.
Its to stop exactly what people like you do, modify your cars for use on public roads.. maybe they should make it illegal to modify a car period... IMO you guys should keep your cars on the tracks and only the tracks if you're gonna mod them. There is no reason to modify a car you will be using on Public roads.
I modify my car for track use but can't afford a truck with insurance and a trailer to get it there and a daily driver with insurance, so I use my car on the street
Wrong, I knew what section of the law he was intending on charging me with and as stated earlier there was no intent to lose traction therefore he had no reason to charge me. I failed to tell the full story, so I guess the comment "I wasn't freaking speeding" could be misinterpreted. When he pulled me over he claimed I was accelerating aggressively, which made no sense since I'm failry sure If I were accelerating a 270 WHP car aggressively it would take very little time to get above the 50 Km h speed limit.
as for 01_RACING YOUR TOOL *** DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT, you would not be convicted for squaling your tires stopping... are you joking me.. you're saving an accident and your tires lock up.. thats completely different from your tires breaking loose.. what a narrow minded child.
Wow I can't believe the number of responses to this post! I appreciate the support and for the record I don't resent police in general just the ones whom like to try to stretch the reach of their power because it is there opinion that modified sports cars shouldn't be on the road. I was mostly curious if anyone else has been charged with this law who honestly did not deserve it
**** the b18cya dude, just some clown being a **** disturber, as BIZL posted, he was on the UpnorthImports.com forums bashing at people thinking he's some robocop type anti-street racer spec. The guy's driving around in his mom's 4 door civic anyways (literally, that or his gf's Eclipse)
Pd_day obviously you do not know the law as well.. there is ZERO TOLERANCE meaning there has to be no proof of intent. this is the best law the Ontario Gov. has ever issued.

Unless its maybe rims?,tint, stereo? something that does not affect power, or suspension.
Also you may want to get glasses, because he ******* said "I WASNT FREAKING SPEEDING" meaning thats the reason he thinks he should not get this ticket.
and If morons like you want to waste your money and fight it then go ahead, but you won't win.. its ZERO TOLERANCE. the cop basically gets to be the Judge, Jury, and the Executioner.

Because last year you had an H22A civic and it was okay then but not now... right...
rx7racerca very well said, completely agree! i was not aware of C51, i will have to read up on that.
most people are not as proactive about issues. it's what makes us a democracy i guess. everyone is entitled to their opinion, or rather lack thereof.

I would have to agree with you. Definitly driving a Honda/Acura.
This law seems problematic in many ways. I have not had the pleasure of being pulled over in a few years.
I have been hearing about this law, but the extremes I have been hearing lack any type of basis or explanation.
There is one thing I do know, Cops or pigs whichever you choose to call them, I prefer the latter, will do whatever they can to screw with "young punks" in their "riced up" cars. For this reason, I have always sought to have a simplistic yet great looking car, not ever going with huge exhausts, loud exhausts, big wings, and ridiculous paint jobs.
If they can see you, and you are unable to smell them, then you will get caught and harassed. 9 out of 10 cops have nothing better to do but sit at Tim Hortons drinking their free coffee, talking to other ignorant cops about their day to day.
You all must have missed the news flash! All drug dealers, rapists, murderers and criminals have been caught and incarcerated, that is why they have so much time to bother tuners.
Get with the times -laughs-

I don't think it's right to paint all cops with the same brush. I know there are some cops who are bullies... probably the same people who were bullies when they were kids, but there are alot that do their job and protect us daily. The problem is the law and how it is worded/interpreted. The law even states that there has to be intent but then puts the power in the hands of one person who can claim whatever they want to. There is one of the flaws.
When I was 15, I caught on a weapons dangerous charge. I had machettes at school. I was in the wrong, I ws young and dumb. almost 14 years later I have learned a lot.
When I was 15 years old, I was sat down in an office at school. The viceprincipal had to go to his office to get something. I was alone with 2 cops in a room. Like all 15 year old punk kids I knew everything there was to know about the world. So long story short, I asked for a lawyer, they said no I told the cop to go **** himself, I got slapped around for it and threatened if I told.
Before my 7, I had a Probe. I was on the probe talk forums years ago. I did a lot of racing in that car. I had it lowered, I had the huge exhaust. I was followed home, stopped on my driveway asked where I was going and when I said home, he asked where I lived. You follow me to my house and don't know where I live??? I got a ticket from a cop that almost beat me up for running a red light and impropper right turn. I made a right turn around a bus with 4 way flashers on, on a green light. The cop told me he didn't like my car. Told me right to my face. Told me he wants to make it so I can't afford insurance. In court the judge was out the room just me the procecutor the cop and my mom. We almost got in a fist fight in the court room. He was trying to start a fight with me, becuase I told the procecutor that he was swearing screaming at me when he gave me the ticket. I was trying to get away from him in a court room. That is messed up. After the procecutor separates us, I look at her and asked her, if he's like this in court imagine how he is at the side of the road. Her response was (and I'll never forget it) "I didn't see anything, I did hear anything". Arg, That was okay, I bluffed and said I had witnisses and I was getting them for the trail. That stopped him in his tracts. I saw the fear, so I told him that I don't care if I go down for anything, his goal was to make me lose my car. I told him I wanted his job. He dropped all the charges.
When I used to work with PACER (Police And Comunity Educating Racers) trying to curb street racing. Our biggest problem was not comunity involvement or "street Racers" not co-operating. It was the cops. We stopped it beause we couldn't educate them on the laws they were supposed to be up holding. I had so many exhaust tickets, I carried papers from the manufacturer saying it was a legal exhaust.
There are lots of really bad cops out there. but there are also lots of good ones. Everyone tells these stories. Of how bad cops are. The bad ones are bad. and they ruin the rep of the good cops. I have many friends that are cops. And they are really nice guys. It's sad there is not a better way to enforce the laws on the guys up holding it.
Bizl is right though we can not paint all cops with the same brush just because there are some out there that are *** holes.

OK so how do we take some action here and work to get this law reversed? We all seem willing enough to take to ime read and enter comments here - why not start writing to our MPP's and the news papers?
Friday night i had my car impounded for 7 days for driving 20 over the limit and making a left turn at 40km/h and i got arrested and jailed for dangerous driving with the intention of street racing in my N/A first gen. i was in jail overnight and released in a different city then i live in to walk home.

Incubus and mainevent, get yourselves some lawyers quickly. Include their costs in the settlement. You both may want to speak to Joe at R.P.M. He was nailed for breaking this stupid law just before DGRR. He may have some insight for you.
Anyone that has ever tried to make a turn from a stop in any POS FWD car will know that the inside tire will squeel when the pedal is pressed with any kind of urgency.
Good luck to the both of you.

So what's going to happen in the winter when someone is going up a hill and "loses traction"? Are they going to ticket that too?
This law is idiotic, and they've just passed something similar for N.S, mainly around "Stunt" driving -- particularly sport bikes. Wheelie? $2000 fine.

So what this Cam Wooley wannabe is say, is that I can't make my RX-7 as fast as a Corvette? Both are street driven cars, why should one be allowed more power than the other. Just because one is a factory tuned car is not a very good argument. What he is saying in the end is that all cars should be created equal. Driving a highly modified RX-7 is really no different than driving a Corvette, only difference being that one comes from the factory as it is and one doesn't. I'd like to see all these farrari and corvette owners pulled over for the same **** as us, like they should be.
On a side note, if you are pulled over for a modified suspension or something of that sort, you are being ticketed for something that has in a way made your car safer in the fact that you are now able to more easily avoid collision. Think that one through for a few minutes.
