Hi guys,
I am planning on refreshing my cooling system on my 1982 FB.. new rad, hoses, Tstat etc.
I was hoping someone had some good advice on what brand of coolant to run.. I started looking into coolant recommended for RX7's and started to get worried.
What is the best standard ethylene glycol based green coolant I can go and pickup?
Prestone is now yellow and reportedly now contains something that isn't as compatible with our engines water seals.
My car was last serviced by Mazdees and it has regular Green coolant.. I'd like to put the same in it!

i'm no expert on the subject, but i'm pretty sure even the cheap import stuff is better at transferring heat than the coolant that was available when the car was produced. i could be wrong though.

I use Prune juice.
That way when my engine takes a dump at least it is regular!
(get any decent coolant and mix 50/50...prestone,Nascar brand,etc..Just NO Dex cool.)

I've been using the generic Canadian Tire pre-mixed 50/50 stuff for years. When my FB was made there wasn't a whole rainbow of coolant. There was basically just the green death stuff and you had to mix it yourself!
If you want to try and make your coolant "better" you could try some RedLine Water Wetter. I have no idea if it really does what it says it does, but apparently they claim that it'll increase heat transfer and lower average temps. Like I said, no clue if it works. I've tried with and without it, but since I have no cooling issues at all I haven't noticed a difference.
I'm with the folks who say that fresh coolant is way more important than which specific brand you get. As long as it's safe for aluminum (which virtually all of them are nowadays) then you're good.

I did a bit more research and went with the Certified Green Coolant from Canadian Tire.
it is not a OAT or HOAT type... some threads pointed to stay away from these types due to certain components being known to damage some gaskets etc....
So the Certified stuff is just old school green Coolant!
