water injection question

Hi all,
I am trying to install a water injection kit this winter (pre turbo system) and i was just wondering if there is any precaution i should know about. This will be my first water injection kit.
Can i drive the car after the installation (in spring) without any tuning?? should i turn down the boost?? The injector is relatively small (only 150cc) and I'll be running stricly water (distilled).

thank you in advance

Water does not impact tune from what I understand. You should be perfectly fine. If you were running methanol then you would need to adjust your tune.

Depending on your setup I am sure many people in the aux section would advise on running more water pre turbo.

It will not affect your tune. However, I noticed on a car that I tuned that the AFR read 0.1-0.2 points leaner running with the water on. I did back to back tests with the water on and with it off and the results were always the same. Since I tuned the car safe to run without the water to begin with, I made no adjustments to the tune with the water.

So the answer to your question, you can add it and make no adjustments to your tune whatsoever. The only adjustments would be if you were relying on the water to make more power with a more aggressive tune (more boost, more timing, leaner AFR).

I'm sure there are countless ways to tune and so what I say should be taken with the smallest grain of salt but other believe if you are running just water you don't change anything other than boost. I can't remember his sign on but RC24 something seems to have done well with this method.
I believe he was even running pretty rich afr's too but I haven't read the thread in some time.

Car was never dyno'd. The owner just wanted a reliable daily driver which was the reason for the water.

I had a theory, that it might just have been the water that turned to steam and since water contains oxygen and widebands read oxygen, that was the reason for the leaner AFR's. I even tested turning on the water midpull and the AFR changed instantly.
