Holy hell that dent in the rotor is horrendous! Sadly this kind of **** happens all of the time everywhere. Working in the modification and performance business myself I see this a lot. I spend a lot of time fixing other people's fixing...

Wow.

When I see stuff like this I am always reminded of something I read in one of the old Mazdatrix catalogues within their engine pricing section. Paraphrases it went:

"It is relatively easy to assemble the largest pile of crap into a working engine that won't smoke too much, make adequate compression and generally run well enough".

Yup, rotary engines can get away with a lot of crap and it will still run, only difference is how well and for how long.
