WARNING streetpower thief

Hi fellow member. I have owned my rx7 for about 14 year now. Been to a few shop and had my experience. I have been a Streetpower client for many year. Sean has always worked on my car.. Sean is not an honest and is a sneaky person. I will come to him to fix what ever is wrong with the car and give him whatever he asks of me i pay. But in return he mistreats me. Whenever u bring ur car to him sure he will fix ur car but for a high price which is my part if i agreed or not. But he would tell me i need this and that. I wouldn’t know any better and I am not a mechanic, I am just a person who loves rx7’s.

Sean stole my set of volk gt7 and sold it to one of his clients without my consent which I forgave him because i was afraid i wouldn’t have any other mechanic to fix my car. So i kept my mouth shut. I had my turbo upgrade b4 and he stole my hks heat shield which he claims i didn’t have it on my car. I did have a hks turbo kit. Just recent i had him to repair my car because i had my car sitting in the garage for 5 year without moving. So he told me i have to get my car redone everything including rebuilding the engine. So i had my car engine rebuilt. He convinced me to replace my Powerfc to Haltech Sprint RE because my engine harness had been chew up by mouse. He claimed he threw the Powerfc in the trash because there was rat **** on it even though they did not get inside the car and it was clean. Hmmmmmm. I told him i want my powerfc back but he say it in the trash. We had a argument he kick me out of his shop. I took my car to Marco's shop and he have a look around my car and notice i was missing the oil injection pump and told me u have to premix now. If i haven’t took my car else where i probably would drove my car without the knowledge of premix and blow my engine again then Sean probably come up with a story of why then I will believe him and dish out more money for rebuild again. I already had like 3 rebuild engine with Sean and each time was a different excuse. So he took from me a set of volk gt7, hks heat shield, oil injection pump, and Powerfc. I hope who ever got my part is enjoying it better then i did. So guy and girl please don’t ever set foot in Streetpower, you will only get rip off and robbed.

I don't know the OP or Streetpower but these posts by nature are one sided and don't really allow the other party to reply in defense.

It does seem odd that the OP allowed his set of rims to be stolen from him and yet continued to have his car worked on extensively by Steetpower just because he feared not being able to find another rotary specialist. This is Toronto after all and as such there are many places that specialize in rotaries.

I'm curious about this as well.

I know using the search function is not the easiest thing to do, but if someone did attempt to search for shops in the GTA, they would've found a few posts already regarding which shops are good and which ones to stay away from.

Streetpower is definitely one to stay away from.
It's unfortunate you had to feel the way you did when all you really wanted to do was have a mint car. Alas...

I did finally ask for my rim back but he say he got a policy if any item were to be left at the shop more then 15 days he will throw it in the trash. Which at that time he never mention anything like that to me. He told me to email him not to call him anymore because he blocking my number.

smh, how do you go back to a shop after they steal your wheels. And that invoice is pretty recent too so I don't understand your "I was young and dumb" comment.

I think after spending 10,000 on the car, you should have at least thought about where your money was being used and how it was being spent as well.

In all honesty, I feel OP was getting something sweet out of this and things turned sour. Again, who the heck goes back to a shop after they steal your wheels???

There are like 4-5 different shops in Toronto. I really doubt you cared enough about your car if you shelled out 10,000 and didn't think twice when he started giving you bullshit fees like "late payment fees"

Since when was StreetPower a bank? Shame on majority of these shops these days. I really have lost respect for not one, but two Caribbean builders/shops now

Anyone that's been around long enough has heard the countless stories coming from that shop. It's not just 1-2 bad experiences that could just be tossed up as a random. It's story after story and its always a very similar story. Not going into details, I can basically summarize it as once he see's he can't extract more money or parts from you, he just kicks you out on the curb. But until that point he will appear to be a helpful person and pretends to offer a premium service.

Also, apparently this is how you repair a stripped thread for the sway bar mount on an FD. Just mig weld the bracket on so it rusts...

There is only so much a single individual can do when he purchases a car that is unique.
Having to rely on someone to do something,I learned, is not a real attribute of mine,so I opt to do stuff myself.
This is where I have to give a big Thank You to the Forum and the guys I met on here..NOT the shops that are out there.
I didn't even know what a variable resistor was when I started and I have now been here 10 years and built as many cars.I found the info on the Forum or the Internet..Thanks "WWW"...LOL!
Worn out a couple keyboards but that is still cheaper than 10 hours Shop rate.
So..Shops?...don't need em..
I just need my Reading glasses..and a coffee!

We should all educate ourselves, there are many resources at our fingertips, find out what parts cost, get an estimate for what you want done so you don't have to get a heart attack with an enormous bill. But honestly the OP should of learn`t his lesson the first time around.

FYI. there are a few reliable individuals around the GTA that can work on rotaries.

I debated whether to add further to this but everything on this car has got me pretty upset the people like this exist...

So after finishing up the initial work on the car that I did, the car was smoking and the OP wanted to get it fixed. The turbo had a ton of play in it so I made the call it was the turbo. I had a brand new ball bearing Precision 6266 on the shelf so we decided to put that in there. When I pulled the old HKS T04Z turbo out I found out why the car felt so lazy... I asked the OP if he ever blew the engine (causing an apex seal to shoot out) and he said no, and then also informed me he only drove on the turbo around 1000-1500 km from brand new which brings into question the amount of play on the turbo. The conclusion was Sean stole his practically new turbo and put on a junk turbo he had lying around as this could not be his turbo.

Anyway, after the turbo was on the car was still smoking so I drove it home a couple times in case there was residual oil in the exhaust to burn out. Smoke persisted and it became apparent it was the engine. I was busy, had other rebuilds lined up, and then the OP was going to go on vacation out of the country for a decent amount of time so the car was put aside for when I could get to it.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I caught up on projects to this car and pulled the engine. And from there my my disgust for people like this just grew. I wasn't planning on posting anything so I wish I took more pictures and more detailed ones but I'll show what I can.

So first this I noticed when draining the "coolant" was THERE WAS NO COOLANT. It was 100% water and was already browning from rust. We live in Canada, how can you be that cheap to not use coolant + the fact that pure water will cause the cast iron to rust... Anyway, that was just the beginning. When I actually got into the engine, I basically found garbage. The stepwear was horrendous, all plates were around 4-8 thou of stepwear... The oil control rings were beyond gone. The porting was so lazily done, the intake ports were stepping into oil land, the exhaust ports were all jaggy with knife edges which were wearing the apex seals. And of coarse the coolant passages were full of rust and crap due to the straight water.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLZuA2kQbkw

But wait there's more, after taking the rotors out of the acid bath I noticed some things I hadn't noticed before. One of the rotors had a huge *** dent in it and a bunch of scratches. The apex seal grooves had evidence of "damage cleanup" with a file so the apex seals would fit in their grooves. The other rotor also had a less severe dent in it and wouldn't have been terrible if it wasn't for the other rotor. Inspecting the old side seals and checking the clearance revealed even more. A good chunk of the side seals weren't even filed straight and the clearance was all over the place. From a tight 1 thou to loose as hell 8 thou, with most of them being massively way too loose. It was becoming apparent that whatever junk was lying around was used to put this engine together. And if that wasn't the case, then its not any better cause the parts were ok'd to use while being charged a stupidly high premium.

I put the engine together yesterday also and decided to check the end-play with the old bearings just to be thorough and low and behold way too loose again. 6 thou of end play, wtf seriously... $6,000 rebuild and you can't even set a single clearance on the engine properly and use garbage to top it off.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PViKOao02s

The rest are less important but still wow... The used clutch that was sold had basically no life left on it, its practically at the rivets (keep in mind the car was towed straight to my shop and the OP never even got to drive it yet other then a short test drive after i put the new turbo in). Also one of the crank sensors was found to be broken when I removed them to clean/paint the front cover. I'm sure this was noticed when the front cover was painted....

That's everything I can remember off memory with the engine obviously being the freshest in memory. I wish I took more pictures but I was just sending some stuff to the customer as I progressed like I normally do. Anyway, I just felt I needed to share...
