Im buzzing with excitement right now, my FD should be in BC June 6th, i can go and test drive it and all that good stuff on June 10th, and then im going to take it on a 1800 km Trip from Campbell River to edmonton, then to calgary! Thats if its all good to drive on a long trip which i think it will be. Im uber excited, i have a 1982 GSL at home, i bought that when i couldnt afford a FD. But now im trying to sell that, because i got me a FD! Im in love with these cars and i cant wait to drive one, and make sure its all kept up in good shape, so it can spin some heads!
Heres the car, only have limited pics, because its Being shipped ATM.
-56,000 kms, 3 inch Exhaust, Alloy Wheels, Adjustable Suspension, Wing spoiler, LSD Rear end, Turbo Timer, CD Player,Tower Bar.
SO not too many mods, Id like sock, but for the price, and the low KM i dont think i could go wrong!!!

So i should beable to make the Calgary BBQ meet also! so im stoked to meet all you Rotar Heads out there!

DAMN.
that is a NICE car, aside from the engine bay being red!
white FD's are sooo killer.
that thing is big pimpin. Even the wheels aren't too bad, but white ones would look better.
how much did you pick her up for?

Thx allot man! Yea, im going to paint the engine bay when i get it painted eventually.
And im actually ok with the ruims, they dont look half bad. Not what i would have chosen though. I hope to get 100k out of that engine or better before a rebuild.

The red engine bay is kind of odd - do you know if it was originally a red car re-sprayed white, or some one actually went to the trouble to paint the engine bay? My vote woud be paint it red - hot colour for an FD, and might work better with the rims

That is a sweet fd. If you don't mind, could you say how much it was in total? I'm researching the import route. also did you import it yourself or did you go through a import company? Also what grade and KM are on the car.
Whale tail spoiler is very nice.
sorry about the questions, thanks for your help.

Donz, I know that you were saying that you were looking for awhite FD. And this is one thing that you should expect to see. For some reason the Japanese people like to paint red cars white. I saw one in the shop in Van where my car is at now and it was a red car painted white aswell. It will be hard to find a car that was originally white. The nice thing is that they do paint all the door jams and whatnot. just not the engine bay.
Looks like a nice car. Hopefully you have a little better luck than me. Just take it easy for the first while and you should be okay.

Thanks for re-opening it, this is all local, so i thought itd be ok. donz, i imported through www.tyeeimports.com so far there very good, they can go to auctions for you, or you can pick through what they have comming in at the moment, or what they currently have stock of in BC. Total it will run me about 10-11 grand, and the car has 56 000 original KM on it. And it is a Grade "B" car. I love it so far, and all ive seen is pictures. I am going down on June 16th to check the car out, and then if all goes well, ill be driving it back possibly.
I think hes talking about the fact that you don't have a stock steering wheel on there. If you haven't noticed he seems like he has to find something to bitch about with everyones RHD FD. There is a guy in calgary named Jason and he just got his Fd and it has a aftermarket steering wheel on it with no airbags and he seemed to have no problems with a OOP. I have never heard of a car needing air bags to pass a OOP.

But - legally - any SRS system that was present at the time the vehicle was produced must remain on the vehicle.
Classic examples are 5-point harnesses. If your car was equipped with pre-tensioning seatbelt assemblies, then the car *technically* is not road legal if they're removed in favour of something else (even if its a properly installed, and therefore safER 5-point restraint)
Are 9 out of 10 inspectors going to know every option on every car they look at off the top of their head? Probably not. ANd in most cases I'd say many are too busy or lazy to check into it, so some slip through the cracks.
But legally, the point is correct.
The 85 Civic remark would be untrue since it didn't come with airbags from the factory.

ok, that may be true, but i have never had a problem with it. My parents have a M5, and they have a different steering wheel ( no airbag) and they pass'ed fine. I dont think the inspector will Fail you for a after market wheel :| i hope not.
JDM-FD3's did not come with an airbag... OOP does not require this...

Bad news, The dealer called, and said it was having starting issues, and hes not sure if it made it on the boat here. i am sort of looking around now, any useful sites for me to check for RHD or LHD RX-7 other then Canadatrader?
Check with 360autosports they have a nice stock RHD .... not sure what you're willing to pay though.

You could try Monky's http://www.japaneseusedcar.ca/
You'd be importing it yourself so no test drives but these guys do check through the mechanicals quite well. I wouldn't expect your car to arrive before late summer though .. they are a bit slow getting them out the door.
www.djauto.com in Edmonton has a few but again around 80km on them. It's hard to find low km JDM FDs without accident history.
How many KM are you looking for?
