venting about my mechanic
So I take my DD (Chrysler 300M) to my mechanic to replace some nasty front wheel bearings that only had <8K on them...only to find out that they aren't covered under warranty because there were installed 14 months ago. So I fork over another $500...drive the car home and find a big dent at the bottom of my driver door where someone has obviously open the door into the corner of something. I'm the only one that drives this car and when I washed it a week ago that dent was certainly not there. I'm assuming the mechanic must have opened the door in the shop and hit something. grrrrr.
What makes me mad is that they don't have the guts to come forward and say what happened...I have to find it on my own. Now the car is a 2000 and it's time for an upgrade (to something other than a Chrysler I might add) but the body WAS in fantastic condition until now. It's not going to make or break any deals when I sell it..but sheeeesh. WTF?
I’m done venting now…thanks for listening.

Sounds like the kind of douchebaggery that means find another mechanic. If they aren't willing to own up to a simple mistake, how dishonest are they in every other part of their business? Stuff like this really chaps my ***. The absolute lack of respect and accountability that many people and businesses show these days is astounding. Also short sightedness because your reaction would have been much more positive if they had fessed up. If they had been proactive and said "Sorry, we dented your car but it's at the body shop being fixed at our expense" you would have been perfectly happy, probably seen it as a sign of a good business, and spent way more money in the long run.
