Unhappy Time to make a hard choice...

Hey guys,

Its been a long time since I posted anything on the forum...well its been a long time since my car was on the road too so....

Anyway, I never thought the day would come but it looks like its time to part ways with my FC. The only question now is if I should finish putting everything back together and sell it as a whole or if I would get more $$$ by......I can't even say it...parting it out! AHHH!

Let me know what you guys think. Here is a list of the cars vitals.

1990 RX-7 Turbo II

Extrior:
approx 160,000 km on body.
Repainted stock red spring 2009 and has been stored inside ever since.
Carbon fibre front lip
Carbon fibre sunroof
JDM aero mirrors
17" Gram light 57c Gunmetal rims with toyo proxy T1-R tires (rims are flawless)

Interior:
Stock black leather interior in good condition
Black and red momo steering wheel (not sure of the diameter, but it is smaller than stock)
Black and red momo shift ****
Black and red momo e-brake handle
AEM UEGO 52mm wideband gauge
Greddy 52mm electronic boost, oil pressure, water temp, fuel pressure gauges
Auto meter daul a-pillar gauge pod
custom double din bracket with single din space for stereo above and 3 gauges below, polished finish
Greddy turbo timer
HKS Profec-B Boost controller

Engine:
Rebuilt with less than 10,000 km on it.
Street port
3mm apex seals
brand new rotor housings and irons when rebuilt
modded throttle body (see FC3Spro.org for details)
brand new water pump
centerforce dual friction clutch approx 10,000 km on it.
Greddy turbo manifold and wastegate
Greddy TD07-25G turbo rebuilt with less than 10,000 km on it.
Greddy FMIC V-spec
HKS SSQV blow-off valve
Fluidyne rad
Greddy catch can
MSD 6A ignition box
1600cc secondary fuel injectors
aeromotive FPR
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
Custom 3" exhaust straight pipe to 2.75" y-pipe with saber mufflers
Alternator racing beat dual belt pully
Haltech E6K stand alone fuel management

I might be forgetting some stuff, but that is all the big stuff. The car made 365 RWHP the last time it was tuned by Steve Khan.

I figure if I put it back together and sell it I'd be luck to get $10,000 for it and obviously from just the parts list alone you can see that I've put A LOT more than that into it. I know I could probably get more from a part out, but I don't know if I could handle seeing her sold off piece by piece....

Anyway let me know what you guys think...all opinions are welcome.

Thanks to all for your help over the years...its been fun!!

if your trying to get the most coin out of it, i think parting it out would be your best choice. The down side is you have to wait for people to buy your parts.

I personally don't believe a modified vehicle is worth more than an original example in the majority of cases, and think seeing 10k for the car is a bit high.

Not trying to be offensive, just adding my 2 cents. Good luck with your decision.

No worries, I figure that's what the general concensus is going to be anyway. If it were me, even with all the mods, I'd still be thinking that I could get an FD for less so why pay more for an older car...

Just want to get outside opinions before I make my decision. I hate rushing into things.

Geez Kenji, it'd be sad to see it go. I remember the day sooooo many years ago I sold you that turbo setup.
Did you get it running since I put the engine together for you? I never did hear back from you, just figured no news was good news?

I would bet you'll start to sell individual parts faster than the whole car would sell for, but you probably wont get rid of EVERYTHING if you're parting it out. That being said... you bought NEW IRONS AND HOUSINGS for the rebuild?!?!?!?! Someone will DEFINITELY want that engine.
I am looking for a wideband set-up...

You guys give horrible advice.

Put it back together, toss a body kit on it, and paint it in the brightest colour you can find. Someone will buy it.

LOL! Thanks for alll the advice guys!

Joe, I never did get the car back together after I got the engine back from you. I was stuck working in Vancouver for that whole summer and when I got back I picked up my GTR for the winter and the rest is history. The car has been sitting at my buddies place in Walkerton for the last couple summers. We just landed the engine in the car a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to go any further if I was just going to have to pull it all apart again to sell.
