Turbo Swap Questions
Basically, I friend of mine is buying a 87 RX7 and is going to swap in a JDM S4/S5 Engine and transmission. He's not online right now so I though I would ask some questions on his behalf. Will a USDM TII harness and ECU work with a JDM TII? I also heard that Tiger Japanese sold S5 Turbo engine +trans for around $1000, but on their site is it saying $1500. Has anyone delt with them before? Are there any differences between the turbo and non turbo transmission? Anyone have a basic point form list of what is needed to clomplete the 87 FC N/A to JDM TII swap? He will probably have more questions when he comes online later.
Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure about harness, the na tranny has a smaller input shaft(spline) and can only be used with the na clutch and flywheel. You'll need a custom drive shaft or you'll have to swap the dif for a turbo one. I would recommend swapping the dif. since the turbo dif is a larger clutch type. You should just check the archives. There's tons of info on this topic. Good luck,

If your swapping out the N/A engine for a Turbo engine you might as well swap out the drivetrain (tranny, driveshaft, diff and axles) and avoid what may be futur problems. If you put an N/A and turbo drivetrain beside each other, you'll understand what i mean.
I haven't dealt with Tiger Japanese and I haven't heard many good things about them, but i haven't really heard much about them to begin with. I'm sure members that have direct experience will chime in though so take this with a grain of sand.
Just do a search on the rotary forums about them and i'm sure you'll find some good info.
Good luck with the swap!

tiger japan is a great place
when you swap n/a to turbo keep it in the same series...s4 into a s4 and s5 into a s5...it will save you alot of wiring issues.
when you do the turbo swap, swap the drivetrain aswell, although it isnt a must you need to be stupid not to
