Tech support request

Hey guys. My car is still doing its stall out thing at night. Last night, I was able to save it by pounding on the gas pedal. Tonight, didn't work. Also, why the **** would my illum fuse keep blowing? It always blows around when my car is going to die, and takes the radio with it. The odd thing, is that that radio fuse is always fine, only the illum fuse blows. OH! I hate problems.

wired rx7 electrical problems are hilarious sometimes.. in cold weather my clock only works when I'm on the brakes or it blinks on and off with the turn signal.

lol, best. advice. ever. haha..

anyways, "stalling" can be caused by several things...and who knows if your two issues are related in anyway. go ahead and describe in detail more maybe about the engine dying. from your post though, it sounds like it dies no matter what you do? does it start fine, and THEN die?

first off maybe check for any vac leaks to rule out that possibility...alot easier than troubleshooting for electical problems

I drove it today, cold, no problems. Same with last night, colder than before, and no problems. It only happens intermitantly, and I'm not sure why.

There are no fusable links in the 2nd gen. The fusable links that the 1st gen has on the driver shock tower were replaced by a real fuse panel.

LOL. Sure, why not. Everyone knows that there's nothing I like better then troubleshooting electrical problems on someone else's car.

The illum fuse issue is likely just a short. Grab the Haynes manual and turn it to the wiring diagrams. Then follow the appropriate wires around under the dash. Especially around the headlight switch harness, since it likes to burn and rub.

Actually, Aaron...

If I were to buy an Apexi SAFC, would you know how to/want to help wire it in?

S-AFC is no biggie. I'd be happy to help. However, the other problems with the car need to be solved first. Nothing worse then trying to troubleshoot a problem with an aftermarket part when the underlying stock stuff doesn't work either...

Well, I'm doing an entire stereo install (back to factory) tomorrow night. I think what's happening is that someone tied the radio power wire into the illumination fuse, and there's likely just a short. I plan to fix it by using the wire from the radio fuse for power instead.
