i had the same problem but i didnt no that the guy who had the car before me had put a switch on it. im not sure what for and i didnt bother to look were it was conected but it cost me 600 dollars later for labour a battery and aventually a alternator (basterd mechanic). all it was, was a stupid switch that was disconected. it would turn over but wouldnt start

that switch is prolly the fuel cut off switch for the fuel pump people use that to start their car if its flooded. start the car with it off and once its on flip it back on. yea i have all of those switches in fact all of my ignition and everything electronically is done with switches since the dash and everything is stripped..all wires and everything is checked and perfect. no1 knows whats wrong
have you tried putting automatic trans fluid in the leading spark plug hole. if not put about 4 oz. in each plug hole, put plugs back in and try starting it. it helps to get the compression up. if it starts it will smoke for quite awhile. good luck!
Do you smell gas out of the exhaust pipes when you crank it? If you do, check ignition, if you don't check fuel supply. It will be a lot easier if you isolate which one of these is causing the problem.
