Hmm, last I remember, that piece is removable from the fender. And then the grill is also removeable leaving the main piece for painting.
I had mine done when I first got my car. The driver side was cracked in the middle. Dealer ordered the part, they sent it out for paint, and voila, new side gill.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the plastic grill piece IN the vent. Not the vent itself. Trust me, its plastic welded to the vent. And yes I certainly make the customer aware of all these little things incase they want to go a different route in which case they're aware of the extra stuff involved to make it that way

First off that sucks ***** sorry to hear bout your luck.

Now I have a small theory that might be a possibility. Some years ago I knew a couple of guys who delivered news papers every damn morning. Around 3am when most normal people would be fast asleep these troopers would be making sure the paper was there for your early morning cup of joe.

Ok enough with the heroism. Anyway you mentioned you parked your car on the road. It sounds like this is a rare thing for you to do, and it is often in the driveway or garage. I can tell you from hearing some of the stories from the great news paper guys that they get use to the environment. They dont take notice to cars out of place. They back out of driveways without looking because they have done it many times before. They told me it happens fairly often that they would hit something that is not normally there. Remember that it is unlikely that anyone else is awake so they often are not focused on their surroundings.

From the stories I heard they were hitting other cars, trailers, bushes, and even fences. I know it sounds odd but its true.

While I am not saying it was a newspaper guy I am saying it is a possibility. I certainly would ask the neighbors to see if any of them get something delivered like that. It might be worth checking out.

That is enough of my crazy theories. Again sorry to hear bout the incident.

Yikes Marco....that sucks. I had the exact thing happen to one of my FBs many moons ago. I almost cried - I had just painted it myself and it looked so nice before this. I went to a pizza joint to pick up my order and when I came out I saw the damage....so frustrating.

Recently, one of my wife's students did similar damage to the side of her car. We couldn't prove anything, although there was blue paint transfer and there was a student whose husband drove a crunchy, blue Caravan. Joe took good care of my wife's car last year. He'll bring yours back to life too.

If you need a used fender, let me know.

Yes you can remove the grill portion. It didn't take that long to seperate the two. I used a 180 grit wheel to remove the melted plastic then gently pulled them apart. You are still left with a stub to glue and locate it back.

Oh the rage that would become of me if that happened to my car. A couple new parts and she will be back to normal. Be happy it wasnt your rear quarter, now there's a problem!

On a side note my wife just backed our TSX into our friends car......she is now confined to the fruit celler/ make shift prison cell!!!

Well it may not have cost him 70K, but considering it's abilities and the quality of the parts, you would pay that much for something that good from the showroom floor. And it's sexier and more capable than pretty much every new car out there in the same range. So yeah, it kind of is worth that much.

I don't think you guys want to see my parts list, it may surprise some...

Anyway, I decided to only fix it physically for now since I want to spend money on other things. This was going to keep me from upgrading my exhaust so its gonna wait until end of the season to be fixed. Look what I just bought...

It weighs only 6 pounds.

So, your cat fell asleep at the post? WTF?

Seriously, that blows.
Why is it that all of us who have nice things we worked hard to get always at some point have to deal with this BS!

Once I was actually hit by a drunk driver. At first he stopped, we looked at the damages, but then he ran back to his car and ran away.
I called the cops, the guy lived on that very street (I had gotten his plates because I was suspicious when we first stopped).
Cops said nothing they can do. They said they could get to his home, and he would say he wasn't drunk at the time, he took a drink after getting home because of the stress from the accident.
Morons! That's for the JP to decide. At the very least it was a hit-and-run charge.

And...Justice for all!
Except the honnest people of course...

When I had teeth, I had no food to eat. Now that I have food, I have no teeth.

Maybe. But lately I've just become fed up of dealing with the degenerate element of society. Whether it is the hookers that hang around our shop, or the kid that asked me for money in the parking lot at the grocery store so he could buy some "food" (nevermind the track marks up and down his arm), or the jerk on the forum who knowingly sells bad parts. There seems to be more and more of these people lately and they should all be recycled into oil for the betterment of society. Those who have nothing to contribute and just make it difficult for the rest of us have no business existing in the same society. Us hard working, contributing and caring members of the human population have to deal with these douches who have no respect for anyone else or society in general. And this thread shows it. It's why I constantly have door dings on my car. It's why my shop door is reinforced with 1/4" steel plate and it's why I have cameras in my driveway.
