Some Stuff from the CCTCC Race Last Weekend
Just a couple of things from last weekend that I thought were fantastic. The first is a video put together by a superfan known as Corner 2 Cory. The guy really cares and does this stuff for the love of the sport.

The second thing is a photo that captures the exact moment in time of an "OH MY GAWD WHAT ARE WE DOING!!!". These things happen a few times in every race but it is rare to capture the moment. When looking at the photo remember that all the cars are travelling at about 160 kmh.
I did this about 5 years ago and ripped both of my mirrors off. I have the in car but the photo would have been even better.

I wonder what caused the car to pitch like that??
Good save on the drivers part. That would have sucked if the car rolled any faster. Luckily he got away with it! A bit of a bumpy ride, but better than the alternative!

A lot of the front wheel drive cars run a ton of rear spring to help the car rotate in the slower corners. If you watch the Saab for the previous lap it was slightly lighting up the inside rear under braking. This would lead me to assume it had a ton of rear spring, rear bar and/or rear rebound cranked into the shocks.
Where the car rotated is at exactly the spot where the car gets unweighted over the crest of 4. If the driver had lifted off the throttle at this moment it would rotate. In a front wheel drive car you basically ignore the rear end antics and keep your foot planted to pull through the turns.
If you lift, you spin. Thats it.
The evasive action was very good for a new driver. Thumbs up from me.
