SO what did you get done this year on your 7?

Last night I was thinking on how tomorrow I'm putting mine away for the winter, then I thought about what I got done this year and I was very surprised...

Bought an 87 GX that had 4 pot front calipers, LSD, and 5 bolt hubs,

Replaced:

battery, alternator, plugs, wires, air filter, suspension (coilovers), clutch, flywheel, motor mounts, full exhaust (headers back), short shifter, and a few other odds and ends, plus some stuff in my room still to put in...

What did you get done this year?

I crashed my FB autoxing (long story). I repaired the Rocker pannel, fixed some rust, Replaced the exhaust from the cat back (Stock, I know its lame but I was a noob when I did it), RB springs and shocks on all 4 courners, and RB header, I also did full poly eurathane bushings (everywhere).

I also did everything but the bushings in my garage. The Bushings I did at my schools autoshop.

You're right, when you put it all down alot is acomplished.

Mines an RX3, but;

Pull the diff apart. Cleaned and pained everything. Changed the gear set with an 83 RX7 LSD. Converted the drum brakes to disk(83 RX7). Replaced the diff seals, flex lines and hard lines. Install new shocks and re-arched the springs and added an extra leaf.

Back end is done. Under the hood is next, then paint

Bought and installed an R1 lip, new Greddy exhaust, Bonez downpipe, Blitz intake, Greddy boost controller, boost gauge, a/f gauge, Tein springs, new wheels with tires, shift **** and changed the spark plugs and O2 sensor.

Although, the a/f gauge isn't working properly so I guess you can say that still a WIP. Still planning to do the AST, fuel filter and water temp gauge before the year is over.

Damn ... its not just a lot accomplished its also a lot of $$$

I managed to swap everything out of my old shell into the new on I got, when i mean everythign i mean everything, interior, full drivetrain, wiring harness, everything.

Then I blew my motor in September, now I am in the process of rebuilding it, and doing all the reliability mods while it's apart.

Next year should be a decent year.

as usual, not as much as i wanted to:

- sanded down and repainted rear fender with POR-15 to get rid of rust
- finally got my 6pi/VDI system working perfect
- RB header
- new exhaust system
- Miata shortshifter
- S4 LSD
- aluminum hood (dents had to be fixed and hood repainted before install)
- Wideband installed
- lots of street tuning the SAFCII, and also at auto-x
- usual small things (cleaning stuff, putting heat shielding all over the place, etc.)

stuff still sitting around, not installed: new suspension, aluminum flywheel, Megasquirt. i never get enough done. i don't have a garage/time in in the winter to work on my car, and May-August i work full time so i most of the time i'm too lazy to work on the car.
but, this summer was good because i put over 10k km on the car and made it out to quite a few auto-x events, so i was happy. driving your car is almost always better than working on your car.

haha, yeah that's true. i think my total mileage May to end of October was about 14k km. and not a single on-road problem. i'm happy with that. maybe if i didn't work 40 hours a week in the summer i would drive more, heh.

I'm renting in indoor garage style storage unit. Goto put in my control arms with new bushings, other bushings, install sway bars, install my pads and rotors, aluminum hood paint and install.

I want to get some racing beat endlinks and dtss eliminators, a prelude CAI and a koyo rad to add to the winter to-do list.

Plus It's getting rebuilt in march for the new season... my coolant seals are shot.

Next year should be a descent year for me to... hopefully with less fixing/working time since msot big things have been repalced/fixed... can't wait!

Let me think, I did a lot more work on my car this year than I did driving.

Installed a new clutch
new shifter bushings
cleaned intake manifold and had injectors rebuilt/flow tested
replaced all fuel filters on car
Did all body work, included welding in a fresh rear quarter and steel into the other
primed car
fixed fuel door release
installed strut bar
installed Odura front lip
bought rims and tires
Turbo II brake upgrade
SS braided soft lines
and one new hardline

and now that the car is off the road I get to work on it some more

polyurethane bushing kit
DTSS eliminator bushings
eibach lowering springs
RB lightweight flywheel
tokico blue shocks
pineapple racing aux port inserts
ported intake manifold
vacumm hose kit
under drive pulleys
fixing my front lip

It was a good year of driving, nothing went wrong granted I put less than 5000km on it

Where to begin,

Built a fuel cell and installed it and a bosch 255 pump, braided vent line, all new fuel and brake lines with braided flex lines. Installed t2 brakes, and dif(solid mount). Built a new motor along with custom twin t25 setup. All ss intercooler plumbing and rad plumbing. Braided stainless oil cooler, turbo oil feed/return,fuel feed/return lines. Turbo back 3"stainless split into 2.5" duals. Shaved everything possible off the body, installed bomex front bumper, gp1 side skirts, and don't know the name of the rear bumper. Got the 2 tone paint job and installed a black s5 interior. Installed an rtek 1.7, oil temp, oil press.,coolant temp, boost and wideband guages. Installed safc2 and a fg sunroof. Oh yeah, and did solid eng. mounts and urethane suspension bushings, along with a 6puck copper clutch. I'm sure I missed something.

Well this year what i did to my FC was have someone do a hit and run on it... i was pretty choked. Then i sold it just over a month ago. Now i have on order which should be here in less then a month(knock on wood) a RHD FD. And (puts the flame suit on) throwing in a built LS1 motor(heads, cam, pistons the usual) Should put down 440whp and then juice which'll put it just over 600whp. I am going with the Hinson subframe kit. I should be the first RHD FD with an LS1 in north america. Sorry boys.... I just can't beat the performance for the price im getting it all at. The car also is getting 99 spec tail lights which i already have on order, full paint job and possibly some Volk GT-U's.

I installed:
Racing Beat 3" turbo back exhaust
Howe Radiator (massive)
Electric fan
Polyurathane transmission mounts
Polyurathane rear sway bar bushings

Other stuff I did:
Removed some front fender rust and did an awful job painting it
Fixed the driver's side floor (rust/hole fixes)
Bolted the driver's seat directly to the floor (welded plates onto the floor), no more sliders => Headroom!
Changed the front brake pads

i don't know where to start.

All new bushings and ball joints, lateral links, swaybar links, DTSS eliminator bushings etc etc
New Competition brakes and brake fluid and new brake lines throughout (Got rid of the abs)
Fuel pulsation dampener
New race oil cooler, and ducting
New front counter weight
New competition oil pressure regulator

Next year. Innovative wb display and participate in as much solosprint and open track days as possible. And drive the car! Oh and install race seat since I can't fit in the car properly.

Future plans,

I can't wait, I really need to hit some car control/performance driving schools and some open track days once the car is in tip top shape.

What kind of brakes did you put on Ian? Did you find that you needed them or were you just trying to be prepared? Why did you need a new front counterweight?

I used the grandsport competition pads. I have not used the brakes to the full potential yet. But yes extended track time you need better brakes

The wrong counterweight installed. I have a 1990 counterweight installed to match my 1993 rotors and lightweight flywheel. (a 1988 was installed by accident)

hmm where to start

10AE:

Rebuilt/halfbridged the engine.. installed EMS, new exhaust, turbo kit, suspension, fuel system, etc, etc, etc...

Basically turned a pretty nice car in to a much less nice car that now is faster than new z06's... the plans this winter are to make it nice again and tuning, tuning, tuning.

FD: Made it whole again! Big plans for it this winter.

Turbovert: drove and drove and drove. Unghettoed a few misc. things from the P.O. (like the blockoff plates especially, they were made out of pop cans!) Getting stored in about a week...

Widebody turbovert: ... (crickets chirping)
