What area are you thinking of? Dont go to far north or you will lose the Hamilton, Niagara and kitchener people.

Will your place have tunning capabilitys?

Toronto area is good. The shops that exist there are few and far between and some have lost the faith of many a rotary follower. I know that for certain things I would drive my car the 5hrs to Toronto from Ottawa if I knew there was a damn good shop there to do the work.

Jon

Edit: lol, you had to go and edit your post while I was typing!

Brampton is West of Toronto I believe, I'll check.

Yup

Brampton would be a good location

You'd get people from Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener/Waterloo

Nice little spot. Hope you like winter though We're a little colder than Cali in winter

that all depends on the housing market and how much money i have after the move, it would be nice to have all of the necessities as there is almost no possible way to bring heavy equipment with me, most of my equity from selling my house would go into making sure the shop is well equipped so long as the business is there. i am not much of a gambler so i hate risks hence why this thread is here.

next question:

how tough is it to bring a California car into Canada and licensed? not a huge problem reinstalling all of the California smog equipment.

Karack..there are areas of Ontario where emissions tests are not neccessary. It all depends on the region. If you don't mind travelling back and forth to work..unfortunately Toronto is an area where testing is a requirement for vehicles..just thought that you would want to look into something like that .The e-tests are pretty well like Ca.,sniffer test and dyno..

.. there are alot of shops that deal with rotary up here.. they just don't advertize.. but local shops to a particular region, off the top of my head I can think of 8 just in the GTA & 400 corridor. That's allot for the rx7 density of the area.

Bringing your car here will be no problem at all, being in your name all ready im not sure how the saftey will work though. If you buy a car in the states and bring it here and register it you have to change the front bumper support to our crash rating, along with putting in day time running lights. But since your car is registered to you already i think you can just bring it here and jusy make sure it passses common saftey regs (brakes, lights work, horn etc). Dont qute me onthis though as i cant remember fullly....

well I'll leave it up to the people who own the business to do that. but thier is myself, I don't promote on this website like other people, I find it tacky.. and who knows how many of the ' rules' your breaking when you do it.. but I think I'm the only rotary builder that also builds for aircraft and does in house P-ports.

If you move to the Lake Huron region there is no emissions testing, and Fairly cheap land. Not as big area to draw from tho.

Part of th reason allot o shops have a bad 'rap' is because most of the good shops are out of business. Canaidans, in particular Ontarians have no real concept of the actual costs of what it takes to do custom work. NOT ALL mind you but a large percentage seem to think that labour & materials for fabrication, installation, service is worth no more then what the cheapest Chinese knock off part is worth to buy. Service can only be as good as what the customer is willing to pay for it. you can't expect to get a custom V mount fabricated with any sort of quality if your only willing to spend $550 for eveything.. Your asking the person building it to basically work for free..? or a custom Dp back system in stainless for $300 ( as an example of a few people that have asked me to do work.. ) Of late Companies like Brullen have gone under because of this very reason. SO when talking to Karack here about a good shop with good service.. just remember that with that service comes real costs.

trust me doridori-rx7 i spent alot of $$$. The forum helped me more then all these shop i been to. i never complained about the money. i just want my car to run perfect. i lay thousands and thousands but all i c is a bunch of **** talking shops. But it's cool, ill just wait for the right person. most shops are all about $$$. ya ya they need to eat too but yo stand behind ur work. all the shops i've gone to,dont have what it takes to be called a performace shop. so what if they can do all the small little ****. how about the big ****. we own a part of history's best cars. so we need the best shop to do the best work on our beautiful cars. there's probably many ppl like me who dont know what to do with our cars, and thinking about selling it. hahahah, i m no car expert its ez to con a guy like me. but i m still not happy with the shops i;ve gone to. so karack if u do come, i hope u have skill. i might even help you open a business. i always wanted a perfromace shop. money isn't an issue. hahaha peace
