Remus Exaust

I've always liked the look of the remus exausts, and when i get a 1st gen, i want one of the dual tipped mufflers for it. But recently i found out that they offer a single tipped muffler, and wanted to know if anone has heard this muffler on any car, Rx-7 or not. Was thinking about putting these on a cat back that I have lying around, and making a nice dual exaust, but I dont want a ubber loud deafening beast, as it is a vert, and i do drive everywhere with the top down.

I believe all their exhaust are fiberglass packed, so as good as they are, wouldn't last too long on a rotary. I may be wrong but you might wanna email them and ask.

Frank.

I heard a single tip remus exhaust on a del sol... sounded really nice actually, i was quite impresse. It wasn't ver loud, nor quiet, also had a nice rumble too it, but then again it was a honda... they all seem to sound pretty deep

Remus specializes in motorcycle exhaust systems. they make quality stuff, although i didn't know they made any systems for the RX-7.

if it is fiberglass packed, keep in mind that their lifespan may be shorter than that of conventional baffled or steel packed mufflers.
HOWEVER, not all fiberglass packed mufflers are created equal, some do last fine on a rotary.
i don't even know why people keep saying "won't last with rotary". at the end of the exhaust system it's very hard to say if the heat is actually hotter than any other car out there. i would really like to see someone actualy stick a temp probe at the mufflers of different cars and see how much hotter it really is.
if fiberglass packed mufflers are going to get blown out, they will on pretty much any car eventually.

When I hold my hand at the tip of the muffler of my Matrix and pick-up truck, the temp isn't anything near as hot as what's coming out of my FB. It's not a true scientific approach granted, but the exhaust of the rotary is definately much higher than that of a piston. I too would be interested to know the actual temperature of the rotary's exhaust.

I think at WOT it's around 1500-2000 degrees fahrenheit. I mean, bbq paint (~1500 degrees) doesn't last very long on a header.

Might have something to do with ppl having bad expiriences with them Aaron.

I wouldn't know personally though as mine were already cooked when i got them. But i wouldn't be willing to spend the money on an expensive fiberglass muffler just to find out it blew out shortly there after. Much rather spend the money on a SS packed muffler.

P.S. How's the Megasquirt coming?

i was going to just get 2 cans, and yes, they do sound nice. I was hoping they would work, and i think they would based on the videos ive seem of the particular muffers i wanted. they were all m5 bmw's, which i believe have fairly heathy v12's.

just get a cherry bomb glass pack, and see how long it lasts. Even if it last 2 days it is $30 well wasted... think flames.

Remus

You may want to check out the Remus website

They give some sound examples there. Sorry no rotory!

I priced one today . I was told $450 plus inst.

http://www.remus.at/remus.php?ln=2

I am running with double tip Magnaflow with two Magnaflow resinators.

It sounds great outside the car , but it's loud inside.

I can't listen to the stereo at all .

what can you do to build a quiet but well flowing exhaust?

I really want to have a quieter car this year. But it's gotta have mega flow..

I too am very curious how it sounds ... i have an SDJ header with a straight 2.5" pipe to a magnaflow and its screaming loud ... But you prob already know how that sounds like. I was considering putting a couple of resonators in there too but wasn't sure of the effect and if its really worth putting the money in there. I was thinking on the tip of the muffler you know how they do that whole "silencer thing" on the cheap mufflers, well i was thinking about having two cylinder one 2.25" and the other one about 1.25" inside it and a plate would block it off, so that i can use my car with less headache from the neighbourghs when i wake up in the morning (6'oclock) to go to school or when i come back home from work at around 3am inthe morning on weekends.

I'm running a double pipe RB header to a Y pipe before my silencers.
I will try and e-mail a short video to nick1.

i'm actually interested in Remus mufflers now.
i don't think they are fiberglass packed. most of the descriptions for the mufflers state all-stainless steel construction.
their universal mufflers come with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty minimum, and their application-specific products actually come with a lifetime unlimited warranty.

these are well-built units and have sounded great on everything i have heard them on so far (mostly european cars). they aren't cheap though, around $350 a muffler.

I know, ive seen vids of alot of v12 cars with them, and they sound very F1 ish, would definatly compliment the rotary.

Money isnt the object, as i have the rest of the exaust already, just need some mufflers.

if you get end up picking up mufflers from Remus anytime soon, let me know how it goes and from where you got them from.
the 2 year warranty is definetly incentive.

Dave, try posting in the 2nd gen section, you might have more luck there.
