Rear Brake Rotors, where did you buy them?

What are you guys using for brake rotors?

don't post if you are using ebay ones. I had mazda OEM on the rears and the hawk hps just ate right through them. Thickness is 18.78 mm well below teh minimum thickness recommended. The fronts spec to 21.9X mm. I know brembo makes fronts, and according to tirerack they make rears, but brembo catalog denies that.

What are the alternatives for rear rotors? I remember getting quote 150+ cdn + tax 2 years ago for rear rotors. With canadian tire ones around the 140 to 160 range and the UAP napa taiwanese ones at 100 and made in usa ones at 140. Suggestions? I'm leaning towards mazda rears again...

I've asked this question before, but now seems like a good time to ask it again. Is there a difference between blank rotors from different sources and if so, what is the difference?

I would say the quality is different. If you goto napa there are two versions. Made in Taiwan and made in USA.

It's the quality of the casting, as well as the tolerance on the surface runout is what defines quality. If there is even the slightest run out the rotor will start warping. If there is zero run out then the likely hood of it warping are small.

Just so you know, most of the drilled/slotted stock size rotors you pay big buck for come from.............................................M AZDA or aftermarket 1st line rotors. 23Racer and I both use stock mazda rotors with hawk BLUE pads and havent had any excessive wear problems. You are probably "eating rotors" with hawk HPS pads because the rotors are not getting hot enough. Try stock rear pads, and hps in the front, that may cure your wear problems

Also there is definately a difference in 1st and 2nd line parts. What we mean by 1st line is premium aftermarket parts, usually made in USA or Japan, 2nd line is usually taiwan/china etc. The 2nd line parts are usually 30-50% cheaper than the OEM or 1st line aftermarket parts.

Can scarborough mazda help out on our potential group buy. I think we might be ordering up to 16 rotors potentially (front and rear)...

I got my front disks form KVR. (https://www.kvrperformance.com/can/canada.html)

They are based here in Ottawa, so I was able to get a great deal by picking up the rotors directly from them, and so far I am really happy with them.

I think you can get better prices by phoning them than on their website.

well don't get rotors at NAPA or Mazda if you want better than OEM rotors. the rears are a little harder to find than the fronts for aftermarket. check tire rack out:

those powerslot cryo-treated rotors look decent:

too bad it's almost 50 USD to ship a set of rotors here. That kinda offsets the savings. Then you have to pay brokerage fees, then Tax, then duty. So 50 + all of that means Mazda.

Of course we will help out on a group buy as long as it is prepaid before ordering.
Again, reguarding the post if your rotors are stock size, KVR is using OEM or 1st line aftermarket rotors. When you go to BIG brakes, with seperate hats etc then you get specially made brembo or wilwood parts. Other than that......stock is stock and the tuners buy them , drill or slot them, then re-sell them!

be REALLY careful with drilled rotors! make sure that you know what you're buying BEFORE you shell out the cash, some of them are pure ******* garbage.l

I bought a set for my talon and they cheesegratered my brake pads in less than 100KM!

warped brake rotor myth:
