Racing Beat distributors
Does anyone know of any Canadian RB distributors? I'm asking because I don't want to have to pay for all the border ****.
Thanks,
Joe

Canadian Dealers - RX7 Specialties (Calgary) and Mazdees (Toronto). The bad news is that if you buy from either one of them you'll still have to pay for all the border ****. Dealers have to pay the same fees you do, and they will just pass that on to you with a slight markup. But there is an alternative - look at threads like this:

You can do the same thing, just pick a UPS store closest to you. For you, you'll have to go into Minnesota (Grand Forks probably) but you'd have to look it up.

If you want the RB system - here's what you should do.....
Phone RB and get a quote in USD for a catback system shipped to:
The address of the closest UPS store to You.
Now, go to a post office and buy a money order in US funds for the amount of money RB quoted you for. Call RB and explain how you are going to send them this money order, and how they will ship you the system to the UPS store care of you - and ask them to include your phone number on the packing slip. Mail this money order to them complete with clear instructions as to what you want and where it is to be sent.
Sit back and wait.
When the box arrives at the UPS store, they will call you to let you know it has arrived. Then, within a week, you drive down to the States to pick up your exhaust. At the border going into the states you tell them what you are doing. At the UPS store you will give them $20 ($10 per box per week for the service of receiving and holding your boxes) and load your massive boxes into your car. Keep the receipt handy.
At the Canadian Border you will declare the value of the goods minus the shipping (ie - $576 USD.) You will then have to go inside to pay the taxes - about $80. There is no duty because it's american made. Then be on your merry way and have a nice drive home!
All told, for me it was $576 USD + $20 USD + $75 USD + $83 CAD... plus gas and the cost of sending the money order and it was just over $800. Compare that to the quote from a canadian dealer and you'll be saving $250+. Not too shabby!

Great Info. but Beware
I thought of this a while ago, so I investigated and made a few calls to the Buffalo UPS stores. The bad news is that your packages cannot be insured against damage, loss, or theft if shipped to a UPS store. This means that your shiny new parts can be taken from the UPS store and you have no recourse. I was informed of this by a UPS store manager. That was enough of a warning for me to decide against buying and shipping big $$$ items in this way.
I think the best option is to have parts shipped to friends or family in the US and pick them up from there. The bottom line is know the risk involved. Good-Luck!

That must have something to do with that local store, as I had no problem. I had my RB exhaust shipped from California to Washington State, and RB told me it was fully insured. I paid all my shipping up front to RB and they shipped it UPS as normal.
When I got to the UPS store he even had me look over the package to make sure there was no damage before I signed for it. Now, in a COD case then I could understand the lack of insurance, or if the package was sent via someone else besides UPS, but when I paid for shipping up front and they shipped via UPS I was told it was insured.
Something to look into......
