My car is definately NOT set up for the Nelson track at Shannonville, wrong everything......gears, tires, brake pads etc. At least I know for next time!
Nice see you at the track and see the car put down some laps. Awesome!
Anyhow sorry I did not stay any longer. Just frustating weekend for Cheers and I. Both of us has put so much time and effort not to mention money into this solo1 that when you cannot run its maddening.

At least its only the high oil temps that is keeping me from running.

As far as the costs go I totally understand, I found the $130.00 I paid to run what was essentially 20 minutes (20 laps) for track time rather pricey. I still think the best bang for the buck are the lapping days, where you can run the pro-track or long track for $160.00 and run for as long as you want, and follow and chase people and learn from their and your mistakes.

Sorry Ian.
punk. LOL

I feel like I am improving each time I go out. We will see.

The good thing about solo1 is that you are timed so you have an idea how fast your are, or if you are improving or not.

Ian , you can have someon e time you every lap on a lapping day and create a chart like we do. Thats how we get our data, tire temps, etc!

I think by the time I get my oil cooler (Fittings are on back order) I will only be able to do mostly lapping days anyhow. I had to cancel out of event #2 and probable event #3 and #4. #5 and 6 are in "done"ville.

Problem is getting someone to time me.

Once I get the oil cooler installed keep me posted if you are going out on a lapping day. Would love to follow your lines or just have some tape of us bombing around on the track. Then I can see on tape were I go wrong or when I do something right.

A Robic stopwatch and velcro tape is my friend since I don't have a crew.

so in reality almost every single rx7 has an excuse or an issue on why they weren't running 100%. With that statement I think the majority of the normal people would just drive an rx7 off a cliff and hope to never see the car again.

GO Protege5!!!

I'd love to come lapping, but I'm not welding a cage into my street car. Maybe when my current glut of projects thins out, I'll pick up a FormulaV for some track day action.

LOL! Funny you mention that...on Saturday, I was running without my 5th and 6th ports and on Sunday, I discovered a weird fueling/ignition issue that would cause a hesitation and surge of power at a certain throttle position at high rpms. Managed to drive around the problem but it still wasn't 100%.

I still love the car though.

Cheers we are NEVER running at a 100%. There is always something we feel we could have changed or done differently to go faster. In my case it was a fluke that I found my fuel pressure issue. I am happy that with almost no experience on that track and with no Solo 1 experience we were able to run competitive times with the fastest cars there. I found the SGT 3 lap record and it shows it was set in Aug 2004 or something like that and it was 53.45 I think. We were
.45 seconds away from that! With some proper tuning and practice..................I think you get my point!

Was that directed at me?

I've never hidden the fact that I need to learn how to drive and need to gain confidence to carry speed into the corner and out. Not even the fact I can even heel to toe. My gear changing into the corner will kill the transmission and clutch for sure shortly.

These issues happens when you do everything yourself and don't have some personal mechanic making sure everything is just perfect. There were lots of people at the track that had issues. Two cars cracked rotors. I think the only none issues were the people with brand new cars not modified. Or ones that are perfected

My issues

1) Oil temps,
2) Hestitation on throttle. Haltech setup or something.
3) Ignition woes. Haltech setup again? Or something failing intermitantly.
4) Driving skill
5) Spelling issues.

Ian, you are not alone with your issues. We had fuel issues all day as well as traction issues. Even with my crew chief there it was not the environment to be able to try changes so we just ran with it. Dont worry about what others say, just do what ever you want and have fun at it! And dont forget....your part of the team man! You have the "shirt"!

It would appear you've also been classified as a novice...with a Class A license!

Nope they changed that yesterday. In any other series that you have never competed in you are classed as a novice. If Micheal Schumacher went to Nascar he would be a rookie. Anyway doesnt really matter, it was still fun, and for the most part they were great people.

Dang..... I was thinking that if Al was a rookie then maybe I could be one to. I haven't done a Solo 1 since '85 so maybe I could be a born again vir.... I mean rookie as well.

Both Al and I could show up and run our cars in SGT3 as rookies. Whoo weee lets stomp the newbies.

Truthfully glad it was fixed as Al has more Solo/ Race experience than most of you put together (though in Solo II) and while Solo 1 is different somebody like myself (who has been racing for over 20 years) or Al shouldn't be able to parachute in and steal points as a Novice.

Just my humble opinion.

Ya. I was just bugging CHEERS as well. There is always some excuse coming from me

Yup. I was pimping "the shirt" to bad it was so cold out and it was under three sweaters. LOL.

Oil cooler is coming june 20th. Among a billion dollars in fittings Well shipped at that date anyhow. So hopefully in july some more solo1 and at least one track school. One track school if even two is not enough for me Gonna get BALLZ "less" to go too. Not that he needs anymore instruction.

23RACER
You should come out. Seriously we can get a few people to come out. All pit in the same area and just hang out and hit some laps. Of course we need to get cheers up and running again. The last solo event there were 4fc's, 1 fd, and one fast rotary custom lotus thing.
