Probably going to Solo 1 Event Sunday

Well if the weather gods co-operate we will run the Solo 1 this Sunday at Shannonville. I ahvent made a fool of myself for a while so...................here goes nothing so to say. I have NEVER run a Solo 1 in my life...............I suck at qualifing for a race...........I havent driven the Nelson track in like 12 years...........It usually takes me 4-5 laps just to get the brakes to warm up and work............should be plenty embarrasing!

Yeah, most likely. If you look at regional race results, you will see the person with the single fastest lap doesnt usually win the race. The trick for us is to run 20 minutes and be consistant with low lap times. Anyhow your right, I will get owned for sure......now if there is open lapping at the end.........hee hee hee

Not much of a parking lot because two of the three will always be on the track, or gridded ready to roar. So it will only be 1 FC sitting in the parking lot. A moving car does not count as being parked no matter how slow it is going.

What is a good time for an RX7 on Nelson now? The last time I raced at Nelson, in a Solo 1 event, was in 1984. I was running a 73 V6 Capri on original BFG TA Radials and set a track record for D/Improved with a 59.2.

I've got to believe with R compound tires and shock developments a good time for an Rx7 has to be at least 3 seconds faster.

What is good now?

Eric

I don't know. We never ran the nelson configuration last year. You would have to go back to the 03 or maybe the 04 results to see.

The times look like they are between 53 to 54 seconds if you are going to win SGT3 class. 2001 Z06 vette did it in 52.053 seconds August 7, 2004. THat is the fastest time to date on Nelson for solo1 racing it appears. The 01 vette if I recall was in SGT1, i tihnk it was the blue one with the aero kit on it, if anyone went last year to Solo1 at shannonville.

Wll had a fun time at Event #1 & 2 of the Mobil1 CASC-OR SoloSPrint event. Saw many friends and nemesis over the weekend. Here are some pics. Oh and I beat IAN with my 200 HP car. Which shows power is a waste if you can't use it all.

Sadly my sunday event was all DNF. THe motor went between turn 4 and 5 at full throttle. The front rotor went. 212,000 kms and 17 years old she didn't want to make the power I wanted her to make. Now I have to decide what I want to do with the car. I'm not competitive in SGT3, there are too many fast guys out there...

It's not how you stand by your car, it's how you race your car.

Sorry Ian.

It was definately a learning experience (having never run a Solo 1 before) and might even help me in qualifing! I was faster as usual when I had someone to chase down then when they sent me out 1st! It was a great day and the people were great too!

Actually I have pictures with all of the stickers. That was the only sticker that was not magnetic so I took it off last.

Took paint off in the process. Don't use electrical tape on shitty 10th AE paint.

I am surprised that I was even that fast considering I was letting off on the gas half way down the straights and taking it easy around the track (Corners). This was the first time that I ever went that fast on a track. The car has alot more potential but like I said a before its all in the driver (I need to learn). There was a honda civic crx that did 54s. He owned almost 90% of the cars out there.

sad part is I am classed as 12.5psi and the whole time I was running 5psi to spike around 9psi.

I can't figure out why on the dyno it spikes to 12.5psi and track it only runs 5 mostly. (Spring pressure)

Anyhow no point me trying again. 2nd laps I was over 210. 3rd lap 250+.

I had fun either way. Would be nice to see more people from this list participating too.

Rules require rollover protection so no solosprint for the car this year. Decided to save for a 6-pt. I'm hoping they'll let me run at the Canada Day shootout though.

I dont have the final results on everyones times from Sunday (not that I know where to find them), but the fast car was the 13B powered locost super 7, I think he was in the 52 or 51 second range. The last recorded time I got for my car was 53.909 and as we found out was only running 3lbs of fuel pressure....we require at least 6! (I found that out today when I went looking for why it didnt seem to be pulling as hard as I thought it should) . My car is definately NOT set up for the Nelson track at Shannonville, wrong everything......gears, tires, brake pads etc. At least I know for next time!
