Power loss...third gear..

I bought an 1985 (12a/carb) last fall, I drove the car home (she ran very well)
The car was parked all winter…she even started fine in January/Feb ect…
In the past of weeks I started the car every day.(the car is not safety/nor plated yet).
Last week, on a rainy humid day I had “some” problems starting it (now I know I need new plug wires).
The next day, I got a her started , however, she ran somewhat rough, seems like she was a little flooded.
Anyway, I took it on the highway for a test drive....in 1st and 2nd she was ok...but after shifting in 3rd....the motor“reved very high..”no power” then she started to balk down didn't want to take her gas !!!
Had to downshift on 2nd gear to get off the highway…she doesn’t take her gas in 3rd

1) Could a coil have cut out on me ?
2) Is there a diff between both coils…like one is for trailing the other is for leading ?

Any help please…

Regards

The coils are identical, you should switch them and see what happens. You can drive without trailing, it just isn't good for emissions.

Stock carb?

Sounds like a fuel filter to me too.
