Is it possible my speedo is wrong ?

Got yanked by my house for apparently doing 71 in 50 zone downhill and a sharp corner (a mountain road) where I could not possibly reach 70 without major problems. Since my power steering is out and my speedo clearly read 45 km either that or the cop is being a liar lol

Edit : he was also driving in the opposite direction so I don't know how he guessed my speed unless they have a radar on the move in their cars.

Interesting story, my first and only ticket in the 7 should have let me know the speedo was off, but i figured it out for sure on the dyno during my e-test.

My speedo is the opposite though, it says 45 when i'm doing 40

Of course it can be off..Tire size is the most common thing to change speed readings. He was probably lying, I would ask for radar gun readings/ calibrations. Probably just breaking your ***** cause your a younger guy driving a nicer car.

fight every ticket you get... regardless if you're guilty or not.

^ This. Most of the time the cop won't show up.
You have the right to request to see proof of the radar reading too, for future reference.

its not imposible that your speedo is off, but at the same time there not alowed to radar on hills or were other objects may be in the way. ie light polls ect. both throw off the radar readings. cops are now paid to show up in court, so chances are he will be there. but always try to fight it, you might just get lucky, but youll always be able to atleast get it reduced.

use this site to determine how much your speedo could be off.

I've got OE size tyres, and mine is still off greatly. Even after I did the clutch, and noticed nothing wrong with the cable or sensor, but hey, what do i know?

And as Mr. Cool said, now that cops get paid to show up, most likely the cop will be there. Go to court and do your best to disprove the cop, and/or ruin any credibility that the officer has. What did you have for breakfast that morning? Why do you remember that particular breakfast?

(I compare my speedometer on the dash to the speed reading of my GPS.)

Sounds like you were a target. I say go to court and try to get it reduced.
Don't be a jerk and don't deny it. Me humble and ask for leaniancy.

By going to court with the cop there, he will remember you and your car. He'll know you are a challenger, not a push-over. If he gets you again. Go in with guns blazin'.
Good Luck.

Always remember to state your speed in court. A very common mistake, you can rip apart the cop on the stand and completely remove their credibility, but if you don't give an alternative to their statement, they win by default.
