Easy now. The Highway Patrol in all 4 states we're driving through are already going to be watching us. So we really need to keep the driving civil. I wouldn't be at all shocked if the whole caravan got pulled over and searched. They like to do that ALOT in the states. In my entire life in Canada I've never seen more than 5 vehicles being searched by police. In the states I see that many per week. It's unreal how bored Johnny Law must be there. I realize with the larger population there's going to be alot more illegal activity and such, but damn. I've seen old people in RV's pulled over with 4 cruisers behind them with all the disco lights going. They won't think twice about using up our time, so we don't want to be giving them any excuses. Also don't bring ANYTHING that could be considered illegal. I also suggest doing some research on the state highway and vehicle codes. Even though our cars are registered out of their jurisdiction they may very well still write us BS tickets for noise violations and whatnot.

Yeah we're talking about the little hand held 10 mile range radios. You can probably get them at Futureshop or Best Buy, hell even a decent Walmart should have some. They usually come in sets of two, so if half of us can get some we shouldn't have any problems keeping in touch and that will help keep us off the cell phones. Also I'm pretty sure you can buy any brand. I'll be getting mine at a truckstop down in the states. I have points cards with alot of points saved up so it'll be cheaper in the end. I think the ones I'm going to end up with are Cobra or Motorola's, something like that.
The 2-ways (aka "Walky Talkys") are the ONLY way to communicate at Deal's Gap. There are few hard line phones and cellular phones are worthless. If you want to know where people are and when things are going on...bring your 2-way!

Definitly. However we were thinking more along the lines of communication during the drive down. I'd hate to have to try to relay the message that the Big Gulp I got at the 7/11 is ready to come back out whether I'm ready or not to 10 other drivers going 70MPH in traffic along I-75.
nice.

Sounds sweet Joe, I bet you were jumping up and down and giggling like a little girl when she fired. I think you'll be OK without a muffler..............
I just got an email from Sterling, he says my carb is near completion and should be getting sent to me soon. He said he'll take some pics once its done, and I'll post them up then. I've decided that despite the snow, I'm going to shovel some space around the car out and just bundle up and go at her, hopefullyget started this weekend.
I have to test my OMP to make sure it's working. I'm all of a sudden paranoid that it hasn't been working and my motor is gonna go at any second. I don't know why, she runs strong now, but I'm just worried. So I may be running premix by the time the trip rolls around. We shall see.

So instead of burning crankcase oil, he just mixes it in with the gasoline.
if I don't have my alky injection up and running (probably will) I'll have to be premixing toluene :P
if I do have it running, I'll STILL have to be filling my trunk tank with every tank of fuel.
we'll probably stop every what, 150 miles or so on the way down?
my car will go over 600km per highway tank so I don't think I'll be "that guy" that's always out of gas. hehehe.
I might have a detector with me.
No idea. Have to find the buzzer and kill it. I never had that buzzer last year, and didn't remove anything else from the harness, but last year the oil level sensor and subzero temp sensor on the rad were removed....but no buzzer back then.
Annoying as crap though.
I can get about 350(ish)kms out of a tank, maybe more on the highway.....so maybe I"ll be "that guy"

he premixes 2 stroke oil because he doesn't have an OMP anymore.

Kewl, thanks for the description.
I was thinking of get a detector in MI, but i'll have to see if i have the extra money.
who was at the fall Niagara run? that should be an example of how not to drive down 75...LOL .. but it was a alot of fun.
I have an old Cobra radar detector I'll have w/me. Yes, radar detectors are illegal in Ohio. The cops are strict about speeding. Ohio ends up being the longest stretch of the entire trip.
Guys, no need to speed. Don't you think 9 foreign cars speeding on an interstate would draw attention? We need to take a relaxed drive and might end up getting pulled over anyway just because lol.
