New 450HP 3rotor mid-engine Mazda Furai concept car.
I like the rotor-shaped exhaust can at the back - nice detail. The overall look is cool, although I'm with Syritis that the plethora of fins/strakes is overdone. But, it is a concept car, so a loose grip on reality is to be expected. And a possible candidate for the next Batmobile, I have to think...
The motor is a ethanol-fueled PP 20B, IIRC. I think they partnered with someone to build the engine - Racing Beat comes to mind, but I may be wrong on that, and even weeks after u it seems hard to find articles that go into any detail on the car.

If Ford would let Mazda build this thing, I'm sure it'll be one of the best supercars ever to be offered.
But of course, this is a race car with "concept" body panels.
It could never be road worthy.
At least we can dream...

Seems kind of slow?
You are really only seeing one camera position during this shoot, the car is exiting the last corner at Laguna Seca on to the start finish straight. It's a fairly slow corner and difficult to launch out of. If you want a real impression of how fast it is look at how the Porsche camera car is typically 3-4 seconds behind it. This is a blindingly fast car developed on a Le Mans prototype racing chassis.

Ford is the majority shareholder in Mazda - hence why Mazda sells re-badged Rangers and Escapes, and 6's with Ford's 3.0 V6, the 3 chassis is under Volvo's (also Ford owned), and Ford sells Mazda 6's as Fusions, Milans, and MKZ's. Also why when Europe and Japan get the new and improved 6, including a wagon and hatch (axed here), with great styling and cool engine choices, North America will get a warmed over 6/Fusion, because apparently we're too dumb here to appreciate sophisticated engineering, much like we're on our 3rd redesign of the same Focus introduced in 2000, while Europe has is on it's 2nd new chassis since.
It's a shame Ford in America can't recognize some of the great cars/resources it has overseas (like the European Focus and Mondeo, or even the Australian Falcon), and Mazda
Meanwhile, strangely enough, their market share here slips to Honda and Toyota and other imports...

As it should. It is a race car in "concept" clothing. Everything has to work.
True concepts can shake themselves to pieces from 1 autoshow to another during transportation. lol

As far as looking slow, that's probably a matter of fore-shortened perspective, as the camera zooms to follow the car. Right at the end of the video the acceleration as it goes from standing start to cover the pit road and back onto the front straight is outstanding - that's a good chunk of road in real life, and uphill to boot.
