Umm, it's the Detroit Autoshow.
Sure, the press gets first crack at it, but then it's open to the public.
I'm thinking of going again this year.
Anybody want to rendezvous somewhere?

Yes, AutoRama! I've been going for a few years now and it's a hell of a show.

Most of AutoRama is "American iron" in the form of muscle cars and hot rods. There's a import section downstairs which generates mixed feelings. I guess if you ignore the uber-loud DJs, half naked models surrounded by clouds of 16 year old boys and riced out Hondas, you might catch a glimpse of a stock FD.
It's a great show though. Generally I will spend 6-8 hours in the main show and then take a walk through the downstairs before I leave.

I've actually been planning a rotary hotrod for the last couple of years. A 31 sedan, chopped and channeled, or a roadster pickup.
With the rise of the rat rod/traditional rod set, (vs. the billet-covered, catalogue-and-credit-card Boyd-rods) there should be lots of stuff to crib from.

Feds and his hot rods.
Maybe we'll get together with Aaron this time, and not just pass him on the highway on our way over there. lol
I'll see how many people are looking to go and set a rendezvous point.

Excellent.
We can do a car pool like last year. I know Agent008 from the RX-8 forum is looking to go as well.
I don't know if my bro will be coming this year. He's a maybe right now.

There's quite a showing of "rat" rods downstairs at AutoRama and the culture is certainly totally different then stuff upstairs. Most of the stuff upstairs was bought and not built by the owners, while downstairs is totally the opposite.
Yeah, we could do that. The best meeting place that everyone here would recognize would be the Renesis 16X at the Mazda booth at some convenient time.
The NAIAS is an awesome show bar none.....theres usually all kinds of concepts, new production cars, as well as classics there.....then a month er so later there's autorama....which is also really a neat show....When I was there in '06 there were a few FD's which was a bit of a shocker to me but beautiful nonetheless.

Ok,
I've got a definite yes from 2 members from the RX-8 forum and Hevnsnt here.
That basically fills my vehicle.
Anyone else interested in meeting up and driving out there?
Aaron,
What time are you thinking about leaving? You never know, we might pass you again on the highway! lol

They weren't kidding when they said it was based on a ALMS prototype car!!!
This thing is freakin fantastic!!!
I can't wait to see this thing in person!
yeah
a little too futurisitc, but hey
we're getting closer and closer to something that looks like it might be produced.
obviously not this car, but maybe the next, or the one after it.
