ON Just picked up an 86 GXL

Hey guys, I'm in Toronto and recently I bought an 86 GXL. It doesn't run (apex seals) but hopefully I'll make it drivable soon. Here's a pic:

I was thinking that! Might try to fire it up just to see what happens. But it's been sitting for 4 and a half years, has 250k on the original engine. Btw I'm in Etobicoke, Royal York & Lakeshore area.

drop the oil and change the plugs before you do, if it isn't blown its most likely very flooded

What about compression testing it? I was thinking I'd try that first.

LoL. I did some cleaning this weekend. It had a shitload of pine needles and leaves in the engine bay, like I said it sat for 4 and a half years. Can't wait to bring it back to life.

Yeah a mod PM'ed me about that. I think the rules for getting your intro thread approved are a little **** on here. The whole name thing makes no sense, I'd be happy to meet the local guys at meets, etc and introduce myself, but for an intro thread it makes no sense. Plus there's so many other approved intro threads where the guys didn't post their names, so I figured I wouldn't. Anyways, not a big deal to me.

Good luck with the engine. I don't recall seeing too many FCs in that colour.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a factory colour in 86, or any 2nd gen years. The engine bay looks black, which is probably the factory colour. But the yellow does look really good.
