Insurance or small claims
So i park my car in an underground parking lot owned by the city of toronto. I go do my thing, come back and i see this brownish stuff on my hood that fell from above.
Go home, wash it off... and it turns out that it ate my paint!!!
Wondering if i can be reimbursed. Does anyone know?

You're probably not the only one. You should feel out the owner first. I bet they will pay your deductible without fighting at all.
I've had grocery cart incidents taken care of that way twice.

Your witnesses are useless in court unless they actually show up or you have affidavits.
I don't think that you can sue for spite. In other words, if you have insurance, you have to use it.
The only thing that you could sue for is your deductible amount which, as my experience tells me, the company/city will pay you without a fight and without delay.
What are you looking for? A big money day?

Someone should call the local news for a late breaking news alert ................
....... The city is storing dangerous liquids throughout its buildings and the old decrepit drums are rusting through and leaking their biohazard contents. For a list of the locations stay tuned for the exclusive .......................... more at 11!

Most cities/states have standard claim procedures...
Call the city parking authority and ask them what the claim procedure is.
They should tell you how to file, where to file, what specifics you need, and any other procedural information you may need.
They will most likely tell you that they are not responsible for theft or other damage, but damage caused directly by their property should be exempt.

i just dont want to have pay for my hood to be repainted when it wasnt my fault.
I always park underground and pay the eextra $$ assuming its safe, but then this liquid fell on my hood and well, it is not aesthetically pleasing to say the less.
I will just have to call metro parking to see what can be done about this.
Luckily it didnt fall on my convertible top, it would have gone right through.

Read your parking ticket. There may be a statement claiming no responsibility for your car in thier lot which could hinder your case. Even so, I'd give it a shot in trying to get them to pay for it.

I think those no responsibility claims are for damaged caused by other customers of the parking lot... Not by the lot itself!
No, you shouldn't have to pay for your hood! Go back and grab a sample, dump it at city hall and ask them what it is

It's been two days and you're still griping here, but Noone here will pay for your paint job.
What is the delay with calling the garage operator?
Is there a number on the ticket stub?

Do you figure that they'll test it? I doubt that the manager as a chemistry set in his top drawer.
And if they need a sample, do you think that they'll let you provide it, or maybe that they'll contract out the job to somebody that does this professionally?
Don't answer those questions, I'm just being mean!

it is an acidic liquid for sure, i will keep a sample of it just in case. The parking ticket doesnt say anything. If i dont address this problem now, all the cars that park there will be affected.
It literally ate the paint, sunrised red paint now has bright yellow spots.
