Info required for Ottawa Meet 2007
Hello,
We were thinking of getting a lapping day at calabogie this year, instead of doing a cruise, due to road being very rough. i talked to co-ordinators at the track and we would only be able to get a weekday due to the weekends already booked for all of the summer.
i was just looking to see if we could get enough interest in holding a lapping day, we would probably do the normal show n shine on either a sunday or saturday then have the track day on a monday. The price of it would depend on the amount of people would like to participate, and which track layout we rent, i was thinking renting the east side.
http://www.calabogiemotorsports.com/designer.htm
here's the pricing,
2007 Weekdays (Monday to Thursday)
East Track $4275
West Track $3510
Pro Track $6500
+1000$ for ambulance
+300 tow truck( if requested)
+Flaggers $85/day/flagger
Flaggers will be billed at a rate of $85 per flagger per day. CMP will impose a minimum flagging
structure.
so i would estimate around ~6000$
so if we could get 30 people it would be 200$
more people less money, less people more money
i would have to pay 50% of the money upfront and the rest 30 day before the track day
just want to know if it is worth pursuing.
Thanks

I am interested, it's worth noting that even just the east track is still quite long at 2.81 Km.
Other advantages are no chance of a ticket, and much safer more controlled conditions.

friday the 18th and the 25th of may are still available.. she also mentioned mondays would be good but she didn't mention wich ones... i just inquired about may and june.
also there is a noise restriction of 92decibels from 50ft at full throttle... which means if you have a open wastegate your car probably would not pass, you could probably still lap but would probably have to short shift of let off the throttle near there test equipment
maybe if we could start a list up, of who would be willing to participate. Remember only put your name down if you would be willing to make at least 50% of payment when we have enough people.. i will definatly need to get somemore info from the calabogie track aswell.. like if theres a maximum of people allowed on the track at once, and if helmets are required. please fell free to ask me questions.. i will e-mail them on monday asking some more details.
to start a list

About the open wastegate, I have that setup and they didn't give me any trouble, despite using full throttle for some short bursts. I still took it easy most of the time tho.

Calabogie is a beautiful track. Here is a video I took of a small portion of the track the last time I was there with some friends.

If you guys are planing this for May, than definitely count me in. I need to be back in May since my work Visa expires and needs to be renewed in May, and since the lapping day needs to be during the week, it'll work out perfectly, but after than, to get time off during the week and come all the way from Virginia, not all that feasable. But for those conditions, put me as a definite in. I know my friend with the MSP6 is definitely intersted, but I dont want to say forsure on his behalf, not my place.

ACtually, a few questions:
Are we allowed passengers? if so, how much does a passenger pay?
Will spectators pay anything?
Do we need to bring a helmet?

I won't drive the track, but I'll come and watch (and film it.) Just the drive from Ottawa to the track should keep the cruise people happy if it's at all like the route from 2003.

WHen I went to Calabogie yes you were allowed a passenger and they did not have to pay anything to enter or to ride along.
Yes you need to bring your own helmet.
