hey max! read this please

sorry i know im not suppose to use a nick in the thread title, but i really wanted max's input.

k, i was thinking of options other than single/twin turbo, or supercharger... what about makin a bi-turbo? i understand all the parts i would need to make it work, exhaust mani, fuel, intake, oil and water psi, etc. couple of questions though.

1.if a stock t2 turbo can boost around 3k on both rotors fueling it, would it technically take twice as long with half the exhaust pressure?

2.how dangerous is it to rely on everything being the same, for example one turbo is pushin .5 psi more than the other.

3.have you seen the re twin turbo kit on ebay that looks an aweful lot like a bi-turbo setup? it has a seperate exhaust tube for each turbo, but the turbos are linked somehow. yay... i found a link! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33742

just thinking of a unique idea like gary sc 1st gen. what are some issues with this, i would like to hear more than just max also!

thanks

I'm sick in the head like Max, does that help? I looked into the bi turbo idea for awhile as well. I decided against it for a couple reasons.

Cost was one, two wastegates for example, things like that. Manifold piping is a nightmare, plumbing oil lines and coolant lines, and I just didnt see the benefits out matching the downsides. I'm not all that concerned with lag, I think if you size a single properly it's fine.

But wait for Max's input, I'm sure he's seen some good setups. The biturbo seems to get done in Australia alot, search their forum and you'll probably come up with lots of info.

Yeah I like the true twins..
BTW, that ebay auction is a ripoff, I could a bought a few of those kits for less than 800 Canadian..The RE kit is pretty old school in Japan, turbo knowledge has come along way since 1987 especially in Japan...
You cant got wrong with a well setup large single turbo, I dont think I would bother with a true twin till maybe 750 hp..
1) its hard to say, it would have half the flow, half the exhaust pulses, yet less backpressure on that rotor, so the flow of that one rotor would most likely go up as well.
2) That kit is blended prior to the intercooler slow the boost would be the average of the 2 probably..
3) I thought about using 2 stock s4 turbos as twins, but the problem is that the compressors would still peak at 400 rwhp or so..Thats alot of work for something a garden variety t04e can do with half the plumbing.. Wanna be unique, sell your left nut and buy a T51 spl BB.......Max
