Haltech EMS....my standalone option

So i decided on gettting the haltech ECU now between the E8 and E11.

I plan on installing and tuning myself with some help of couse, now io am not a complete Newbie to ems before the RX7 i raced a G20 with a sr20 turbo running greddy emanage and then the AEM system , sooo i have a rought idea what i am doing.

Now do i need haltech sensors or will the OEM ones do ?

Also if i plan to aviod the headache and pay someone to install the system what is the ball park price in the GTA i can expect to pay and will the install come with a base map to get me driving?

Also anything special about installing in the S4 TII i should know about?

last but not least who is running haltech in the GTA?

Not an e8 or e11, but i am running a e6k. I am using gm air, coolant temp, 3barmap sensors and haltech tps sensor.

The need for an E8 or E11 is mostly uesless, E6x will run your car just fine and 4 PWN are enough for playing with.
I notice though that many tuners are goign to motec's i've never played with so i don't know much about them.

humm, point well taken , i am not a man for frills.

So the Question begs what is the real difference between the E6X and the E8 ?

which one is better and why?

Don't get the E6X. Also don't say you don't want the thrills/frills. You will need it. Why spend a few $100 less just to find out that you will want that option in the future? Like closed loop boost control or closed wide band control. Or maybe water spray or aux injection control etc etc.

If I were to get another system it would maybe be the newer haltech platium series since WTF is it with this bullshit com port ems when usb has been around for years! The new platium will be usb and have some additonal features in the software but I think its probable just the e8/E11 with new software support.

About the cost of getting an ems installed I don't know. Try calling a few rotary specific shops to see.
Base maps are availble on this rx7 forum in the haltech section.

My e6x will run water meth. mostly the biggest difference between E6 and E8 is that the E8's graphs can be set to imperial measurements (psi, fahrenheit,) were as the E6 only come metric (KPa, celcius)
The E8 has 8 Digouts, meaning in can run 4 injectors and 4 coils independently. assuming u have 4 indepentent coils.
The E6 has 6 digouts, so your leading plugs will run in batch (both plugs as one) same with the primary injectors, and the trailing plugs and secondary injectors run independently. which is actually how the factory ECU runs. so simply u have to wire the e6 to run 3 injectors and 3 coils.
