my friend bought it yesterday sand we played for hours.. damn so fun. the graphics seemed to improved a bit but not too much but the sound effects for the game are excellent. althought this game is kinda hard, its realistic and have to take every racing perspective in mind... i wonder if there are any FC's to unlock in the game..

Definitive improvement over GT3, but not enough. Ah well, there is always GT5 which hopefully will have online play. The IA is not very smart and it's been pretty easy so far.

Im glad they didn't have online play. Think about it.

You have a game, that is in essence, the most realistic racing game ever made. Now you tie that into online racing where we have LAG. I don't know about you, but me losing to a guy becuase my connection sucks, and to have himself saying he's the champ becuase I lost due to lag, wouldn't exactly be a driving simulation experience to me...

Thats why they made LAN play, there is a controlled network, with no delay, so there will be no delay in racing accuracy.

have you played any online racing games? i've played a bunch on xbox, and i can tell you that lag is NOT an issue.
first off, i RARELY experience lag. if there is any, it's because i'm playing some people who are far far away from me. and even in that instance, the computer keeps track of your position relative on the track. collisions with the other players may be the only issue, but even then i have never been affected by lag in that way.

so really i don't think it would have been an issue. they just didn't have time to implement it.

i will probably pick it up, or my roomate will, shortly. it looks like it is more of a refinement of GT3 rather than a whole new evolution. oh well, it still looks like a wicked game...

GT4 is great!! I've been addicted for 2 days now. I got the RE-Amemiya JGTC racer!!! And a new FD!! And...and...and lol I'm having too much fun buying dream cars lol Oh and ps - I've never seen graphics this good on any system. It's not just parts of the game, the whole thing - sometimes you can't even tell if it's computer-generated graphics or real. And the fact that they have real rotary engine sounds and even backfiring...wow lol

Ya my FC sounds like an FC. Until you upgrade the exhaust.

I currently have a 1990 FC, 1985 FC, 1995 FD, 1991 FD, and a 2002 FD. I also have a HEMI Ram thats Supercharged and a few other cars that I won in some races.

If you guys dont have HDTV's, your missing out. 1080i is breath taking. And with my Dolby Pro-logic II Support and my Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel, it is the real driving simulator.

Most realistic racing game every made!!??? LOL!!!! That's a good one. As a racing game GT4 sucks. As a driving game.....it's pretty good.

I play TOCA Pro Race Driver 2 on the PS2 online and it's racing experience is about 10 times better than the pathetic racing I get from the IA in GT4/GT3/GT2/GT . Mind you a lot of it has to do with the online community that plays the game. Not like the clowns that play NFS:Underground. The only time the racing is good with GT4 is when a friend is over. Pretty fun. Too bad we have to share a screen though.

Race:

A competition of speed, as in running or riding.

A competition in which participants struggle like runners to be the winner

Races:

A series of such competitions held at a specified time on a regular course

If GT4 were a driving game, the title would be called Crazy Turismo. You'd pick up wannabe ricers and drive them to various destinations.

I'm already compiling a good Mazda garage.
'90 FC White
'90 FC Black
Sunburst Yellow FD Rs-r
White FD Type RZ
Black Mazdaspeed 6
And... the crowning jewel, the mighty Cosmo 110s

The used car section has some good classic 7's in it.
S4 is there for those early FC fans (Listed as an '85)

Everybody notice there's a Delorean availible!?

The graphics and depth of available cars is fantastic. However... I'm a little slow to get on board with the way the cars handle. Every GT has been different, and every time I think what have they done, and it always works out once you get accustomed. But... I'm not even close to warming up to it yet.

It's very arcade like, weight transfer isn't as pronounced as in GT3, I can't get a car to oversteer like I want. GT3 and especially GT2 you were able to drift the cars with precision, now returning to line is very abrupt and snappy, the whole feel is a real disappointment. I really hope it starts to feel better.

Keyword being competiton, the AI sucks and provides none. GT1 had it right with HP restrictions. And you could see the weight and power of the cars in the lineup before you race them, so you can adjust horsepower to match them to make it a good race. It was removed in GT2 and I wish it made it back.

im so jelous... haven't even bought a ps2 yet!.. nevermind even play gt3! ahh well... get old and things change... good thing is i still have full selection of games comin for pc. btw, toca 2 sucks *** on any system...

http://www.liveforspeed.net/

http://www.rfactor.net/

teamed with a logi momo racing wheel and a 100" projection cant be beat. those 2 games are incredibly realistic. although my beloved gran turismo will still get played to death when i buy it!

The AI is the best yet. You hit buddy and he flys off the road so no using cars as a wall to stop your course from going off the track.

And who needs HP restrictions? This game engine is so refined that it has Tyre Restrictions. The max CONTROLABLE power I could get out of my FD was about 400HP before the sport tyres couldn't handle the power anymore and burned out after the first lap, leaving me in the dust. Its more realistic that way because in reality, they dont have a way to restrict HP. What do they stick every car on a Dyno before a race? Its like Nascar. They all use the same tyres. Every team. They are all resticted to 355cui. Doesn't mean that the HP is the same. I can almost garuntee that the HEMI Mopars make more power than the Chev Vortec engines. I for one am Impressed with this game. But I'd like to point out that there is no comparison between the controller and the wheel. You must have the Wheel to experience this game to its fullest.

To be honest, Im waiting for FORZA Motorsport on XBOX. THAT will be an awesome game. I'd like to throw a 13B Turbo II into a first gen, then add a sick body kit while the game maintains the physics on a GT4 level.

Wow, way to go on a tangent about tire restrictions and NASCAR.

I love the game, love driving the cars. No feeling like having a RUF CTR on a verge of control at the Nurburing on a hot lap.

But I have been spoiled by playing TOCA Pro Race Driver 2 and know what a real racing game is like....and GT4 is no racing game. But if it's racing game enough for you......so be it. Enjoy it.

I beat TOCA Race Driver 2. It was a good game. The only thing that kept me going was the movies.

Gran Turismo isn't really a game anymore. Its more like an entity. Its like people just expect it to be there and expect certain things out of it. But compare the first one to the fourth one and its come a long way. I find it challanging in its own respects. It would have been better on XBOX though. Just like TOCA was better on XBOX than PS2.

played it since tuesday now, i have to say i expected more. but it is not that bad. the one thing that really makes me mad is when your in B-Spec mode, and your telling the driver to Push and than Overpass or whatever, he doesnt do a great job at all. like im using a M3 CSL with 500hp and racing against cars with 350-400 and he wont pass them on straight aways, he goes directly behind them and brakes, the car will only pass on turns... also for some reason with a couple laps in and your still Pushing the car, somehow mine is the only one to lose control... not a bad game overall. Forza will dominate GT4... April 6th

When you push the car the tyres wear out ALOT faster. I usually go in push mode the first lap or so then Fast mode to conserve the tyres depending on what rubber I have on there.

Your dude listens alot better the more B-Spec Skill you have.

You know what?I forgot about "Mission Hall". Don't know how I missed it. Great fun and a lot of them are challenging. Like beating the Cosmo 110, FC3S, FD3S, RE FD3S Race Car within one lap using a Mazda 787B with them having a 30-40 sec headstart. Pretty cool. There are similar ones for the Z cars and Celica's as well. Some slpstream ones and overtaking missions. Should keep me occupied when I am itching for a challenge.

well that's not saying much then, because the computer drivers seem to take the race line no matter one. even if you are in the way, they will still take the race line, with no intelligent regard to your position. IMO, the AI in the GT series has always been really weak. but i can't really complain, because most racing games do have a pretty shitty AI. they are either stupid or overly agressive...

You guys want to make money fast? Play the 2nd race on the rally list...I think it's the Capri races or something? It in the mountains beside the ocean. Very easy race and you just have to do it twice (once forward, once reverse)...come in first in both and you win a Toyota rally celica. You can sell the car for 275k credits...and if you need more money, clear the stage and do it again lol Yes, I know you may consider this cheating...but, when you want the RE-A JGTC, 787b, a fully blown FD and some other cars...well you need a big spending budget lol Enjoy!

I know there's a 300ZX for sure...check the used car dealers. As for a supra, I saw a couple 96's for sale in the used dealer lot also. The lists change throughout the game so keep checking.
