Grand-am Gt Crash

Did anyone else see the huge crash the BMW had in the Prototype/GT race? Joey Hand got a punt at high speed and got onto the grass, straightend out the car but then ran across a new access road they had built. The burm on the access road launched him about 10 ft in the air, then he flipped 8 times nose to tail! He survived the crash with very minor injuries. www.speedtv.com has and interview with him and it is pretty interesting. One thing he says in the interview is that "my right shoe came off at somepoint during the crash!"

Ya i saw that one, looked like a Duke The Hazard jump. He was lucky, but you could tell it was a bad one, some of the crew members looked a little overcome with emotion afterwards.

The thing that keeps going through my mind is, what kind if idiot would build an access road that had a huge burm on the side of it?

99% of health and safety revisions are because someone died from doing what is being revised. It shouldn't take long to fix it as long as it isn't there to stop a far more dangerous result

Damn! That's 1 crazy ride!!

Scratch 1 BMW...

It does seem weird there was a small lump in the middle of the grassfield. Bet they're going to smooth that puppy out ASAP!

As long as he's alright, that's all that matters.

Lates,

You never know. People learn from mistakes. Who knew that a small rise for the curbing for a turn could break someone's back on a motorcycle.

Look at Wayne Rainey, it looked like a simple fall and slide, next thing you know he broke his back and he will never walk again.

At Shannonville and at Dunnville if you go mow the lawn there are 1 foot ruts at random places. At the saturday event #1 solo1 event a civic went off and hit one of these ruts. Ripped the oil pan off and moved the front subframe back 1 foot into the firewall.
