7_rocket,

Did you change your seats or something to get side airbags??

SavannaFC,

I'm sorry to hear you're suffering. Then again, with a hit like that, you're lucky you're able to move at all.
I doubt having side airbags would have helped. They probably would have made things worse. Those side curtains and side airbags on the seats are not what they're cracked up to be.
I actually try to look for cars without airbags what so ever! I hate airbags.

I hope everything works out in your favor. Play your cards right and you'll probably be able to move into an FD.

So when will your friend cut SavannaFC a cheque to fully cover the damages and any future medical expenses?

i dont know man, afaik my friend doesn't have a job and doesn't come from a very wealthy family. so he'll probably try to avoid that as much as possible? unless it's legally required.

Realizing of course that if those airbags hadn't spilt your milkshake, someone would be cleaining brains out of the interior of your 3, goof.

Why don't we all go back to solid axles, bias plys and 4 wheel drums while we're at it.

I am so glad that you are OK!... Take care bro, and give thanks to God for saving your life.

The FC might be gone, but you are worth more and of greater importants than any car.

I hate intersections. I always look and slow down when approaching them, especially on country roads. When a light turns green at an intersection never be in a hurry to react to a green light, because you never know when some idiot is running a yellow light.

I am happy that you are well and will drive again.

I think that's the right attitude to have. I was not trying to be a jerk suggesting he pay, so I hope I didn't give that impression. But he does need to make this right not only to fix what he caused, but also to alleviate his own guilt.

Thanks for the concern guys, and yes I do thank God for sparing my life.

As for my pains, I was doing pretty well with recovering last week, I regained some mobility and was even able to go out for dinner with friends and catch a flick on the weekend. (Max Payne, it's not a bad flick, but save it for a rental guys). But starting this week I suddenly felt like I took a couple steps back in terms of recovery because I am feeling a new pain and in a different spot. Not sure what happened there, but the doctor predicted it, he said I would be feeling different pains from different areas in the weeks following the accident. My physiotherapist said we're going to take it easy and back-track a bit, give my body some time to heal up some more before we continue forward. My doctor may want to re-examine me to see if they can't find something else that's wrong. There's a possibility I may have some hair-line fractures in the ribs.

I have filled out some forms from the insurance company which will get me my income benefits, since I haven't been able to go back to work since the accident.

As far as the car, the insurance company is a little slow getting the other dude's insurance info from the police, so I called the police myself to retrieve that information. They did send an appraiser to check out the car, he estimated over $10k worth of damages (I'll attach some new photos for you guys to see). So, the car is totalled, once the adjuster deals with the other insurance company, I expect him to offer me a settlement, and that's when the haggling battle begins. I know how much my car was worth, I'm not going to accept a lowball offer, thanks to you guys who've helped with advice!

I've contacted a lawyer to discuss my rights and options. He advised me to focus on healing and if I cannot return to normal activities after the predicted 4-6 weeks recovery time, then I can call his office again for further action.

...

I was just about to get emissions testing done, renew my licence plate, and ready her for storage for the winter. And then this happens...

Anyway.. here are some damage pics.

Dave>> She was once your car too, I'm sorry it ended this way for her.

Here's what she used to look like:

Random spotting at a Royal Bank in Markham on Woodbine Ave. Is this your 1st gen?

...man, I miss my car.

Getting an insurance settlement shouldn't be too difficult. If you have your receipts you're halfway there. Then it's just a matter of finding for sale ads that show a similar FC to yours and presenting them as replacement value. That's fair to you and the insurance company.

Good luck.

I would say even without airbags.. the impact that car took, and how much damage there is and you not being dead is remarkable and would make me buy another FC3S..
******* solid!

Thread revival.
But I'm interested in knowing how this ended up?
Judging from the pictures, I can tell you that alot of the cars on the road wouldn't have faired as well.

Let this be a solid message for the ******* idiots who want to buy skeleton-less CF doors made for offroad use only on their street cars to save 5 lbs. Glad to see you are on the road to recovery. Best of luck to you

Back from the thread grave... I actually saw Mark's car at Hilltop wreckers here in Newmarket on Saturday! Largely stripped except for the entire rear end (diff, axles, subframe, 5-bolt hubs, and TII rear brakes). So sad to see. There was also a GSL-SE (red) behind it that I'm going back to grab a few things off of. Anyone hear how Mark is doing?
