I'm running a s4 engine with the aux ports wired open. I used to be able to get 500+ kms to a tank. I can still pull it off, but it has to be all hwy miles and I can't be on it too hard. My engine is starting to get a little tired so the mileage has dropped off a bit.

Totally stock.
The best I have achieved on a single trip where I have proof was 800 miles. The average mileage was 80 MPG. The best I've done on a single tank where I don't have proof was just under 1000 miles.
Just recently I drove to Toronto and did 97 MPG.
My last tank average of mostly city driving was 660 miles at about 64 MPG.

Oh, of course. The RX-7. Silly me.
I think the best tank ever with the RX-7 was a trip to Cleveland years ago where it magically hit 700 KM per tank. It was full to the brim (spent 10 minutes topping it off) and was a steady drive from my front door to the hotel. The car didn't really move the entire time I was there and was then driven home. That was basically with an intake and exhaust, no other mods.
Now, I don't bother paying much attention to fuel mileage. In the city it's about 200KM per tank but that's what happens when a car requires 2.5MS on 720CC primaries just to idle. On the highway it's not bad. I can drive from London to Toronto and back.

I was actually surprised to find a thread like this.
You usually find these sort of threads on Honda forums or Toyota Prius forums.

I use to get 600 km + per tank = about 30+ mpg (CDN) all highway driving, but its been a while.
12A with high performance exhaust. Regular unleaded.
The last good run I had was to Ohio and back. I drove my RX-7 and my wife & kids drove my Acura TL. The Acura gets 38 mpg highway - but it uses premium unleaded. When we stopped for gas - the dollar amount at the pumps was just about the same for both cars.

About 28mpg highway (10L/100km), 22-24mpg (11.7-12.8L/100km) in city driving. I've gotten as high as 32mpg (close to 700kms) on a tank in mountain driving, with a/c running, but that was years ago, when I was running skinnier 205 stock size touring tires, rather the 225 high performance summers I run now. At that time, it also had the stock cat and downpipe - not that I noticed it got worse when the RB pieces went in, but I have noticed fatter, stickier rubber hurt the mileage, despite endeavoring to choose light rims.

Best I've ever had was about 750/tank. Took a trip from London to Winnipeg through the states and was crusing at an average of about 125 KM/h. The trick is to stay the hell out of the secondaries. Usually between driving to Kitchener for work and putting around the city I get about 400-500/tank, depending on my mood and the music that's playing.

Lifetime Fuel Economy: 18.01 MPG(US)
90 Day Running Average: 21.01 MPG(US)
Non-sequential stock turbos @ 12psi
Stainless steel downpipe
Stainless steel blitz nur-spec cat back
PowerFC

I usually get about 450km mixed, 550 if its all highway

Honestly, if people are worried about their fuel mileage, they should be a Civic or a Prius. Aaron has the right idea. He's got one car that mileage matters on.
Anyway, for fun, my RX7 has a 15 Gal fuel cell, and I seem to get around 4.5MPG.
The car has been significantly lightened (around 2300lbs with a tank of gas) which sould help, but the full bridge, Weber 51IDA etc. etc. hurts. The fact that it is generally only driven over 6000RPM probably doesn't help either...

It's not necessarily a matter of being worried about fuel mileage, it's just useful information. I want to know how much fuel, and therefore $, a trip will take, but moreover, it's just an indicator of tune and mechanical health. My mileage is pretty consistent, so if it changes suddenly (other than a track day), or is declining over time, it's an indicator of issues with tune or mechanical health. When my wife's Saturn, our mileage champ (42mpg city, 50-55 highway), started suddenly getting 5-6mpg less a couple winters back, it was the mileage that tipped me off that there was a problem before it started having a "check engine" light or had OBDII codes for me. The problem - a $6 temperature sensor. Easy fix, and the mileage change was an early and key symptom that tipped me off to look for a problem.
I know my 7's (relatively) thirsty - but I still like to try to maximize it's mileage by driving smoothly on the street, to balance off the heavy throttle it gets when tracked, even though I always have to wind it out to 8k at least once even on short trips - it's just the kind of car that demands some WOT and a smile on my face
