Fun Race Video, Not!

I thought that some of you may like this in-car. It is the beginning of my race from last Labour day weekend and I finally have it posted. It may actually give you some feeling for what its like to start a race. Watch the sidelines on the pace lap. It really gives you some feeling for what it was like crowd wise.

What is fun is that after the first 3 laps I never saw another car for the whole race. Turn it up and enjoy the noise at least.

I did enjoy watching this - and man, you really did have the track pretty much to yourself for a long time. I enjoyed listening to the song of your Cougar's v6 - which if I'm not mistaken, is close family to the 3.0 in my Mazda6 wagon - which I thought sounded pretty sweet, though obviously tamer (over the sound of squalling all-seasons), when I flogged it hard at an autocross at the end of the season.

Yeah, it was a weird race. I started the race on 12 year old Toyo RA1's as a tire deal I thought I had in place didn't come through. So I was well off the pace that the car can go at as I was tip toeing through the corners. All the other cars were on Conti slicks and could just kill me with grip. Anyways, after I passed those cars at the start, the cars ahead of me just took off and hid as they were running between 2 and 6 seconds a lap quicker than me. It was a huge difference and I basically thought I was running dead last for the whole race. So, I just picked a pace that was at the limit of the tires and wasn't taking any chances. I was just trying to finish the race without incident. It turns out that almost everyone ahead of me had issues and I was beaten on track by 2 Touring class cars, but I was the first Super Touring home, third overall.

Sometimes just finishing the race makes you lucky and hands you a class win. I am taking this as there have been way too many races where I drove the wheels off the car only to have an issue at the end and either fall out or loose a bunch of positions on the last lap. Sometimes karma works for you.

You had the camera mounted pretty good. I could see alot going on. But a couple more inches to the right and I would be able to see past your right hand and watch your foot work.
Thanks for sharing. (I hate winter...car in storage)
