hmmm "the wird", how much are you charging for tuning? Can i get inline for tuning (please) next spring?

I had a tuning session about 2yrs ago. It was a 2hrs sessions. The first half went very well, but the second half we're starting to have an issue. The wastegate (silicone) line were starting to melt :P
I have replace this lines already and did a very rough street tune.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys and lol @ the mouse in the tank. Well this will mostly remain a hobby for me as it is something I enjoy doing but I don't necessarily want to fix the problems but end up doing it since I want to get the cars tuned.

The thought of starting my own shop is interesting but I'd like to learn welding/fabrication if I were to do that. Build and tune inhouse type of thing.

I think I need to create an, "If your car is going to be tuned, read this", document to give out to anyone that asks about tuning. Might avoid some common issues.

I guess Mikes car pushed you over the edge trying to fix it till 6am lol
Surprisingly it wasn't Mike's car that bugged me. Cars just been through some uncaring hands and then his Haltech decided to be on crack as well.

I am asking simply because some of the things you see are likely idiocy and some of them can be legitimate issues.

Either way you are fixing the car, and not tuning it. I would also agree in these times, you explain the problem to the owner, and let him know it needs to be fixed before you can continue tuning. That means they fix it, find a shop to fix it, or if you agree to do it they pay you.
I'd rather not get into specifics but legitimate issues don't bother me. For example I've been trying to get 2Fierce's car tuned for over a year now and it hasn't happened yet.

i have a couple things to add because i would probably be one of the people that frusterates you,

one: some of us ( me ) offerd you and gave you money with out being asked or even you implying you wanted money, i had to force you to take it , also i asked about tunning if i ended up adding parts and how much it would cost, you said nothing because of other things. so people even if only me have offerd or givin you some kind of money just to be nice and say i appreciate it, maybe not much to you but it was to me.

another: speaking for my self, i have just over one year with a rotary vehicle, i dont know squat when it comes to somethings, so i wouldnt be able to perdict all the nessasary things to have prepared, as far as i was told it was break it in 500km and get it tuned, i ran into months and months of issues.

this isnt to start an arguement or anything its just stating facts from someone elses perspective, i can imagine it would be perfect to just get in a car and go, but it doesnt always happen. I completly appreciate what you have done and will be doing for me but i get the feeling from this that i am probably one of the frusterating people you deal with. and this has been posted somewhere i would obviously look to read.

but this is just my opinion and my experience. so you can take it or leave it but what you have done for me has been great and i am looking forward to finishing it and hopefully this year..

You think they would read it though? You have more faith in humanity then I do. Perhaps a signed contract in which they guarantee the car is trouble free and entitles you to major compensation if it is not...

Here is my attempt at getting people to prepare their car for dyno tuning:

While your car was frustrating in its own way, it was not directly the cause of this thread so don't worry about it. There was nothing about your car that was wrong or unfinished minus the injectors being connected incorrectly. To be honest I'm more frustrated with not being able to find the problem which turned out to be a leaky injector then anything else involved in tuning your car.

Anyway, I'm going to work on a paper to give to give to people that want their car tuned on things they need to do before tuned and specific issues with RX-7's that need to be addressed depending on a person's setups/goals. And see what happens from there.

LOL @ marco pics.

I think part of tuning cars is fixing their issues too. You almost have to be a mechanic first. Charge by the hour and you'll be happier. I charge 30 bucks an hour for car stuff no matter what I do (good rate - but I don't have a shop or employees to pay for).
