Stuttered - Now wont run at all...

Ok, well im tired...and really confused...and frustrated...

My car all of a sudden started stuttering today on my drive to work. like CANT ACCELERATE stutters...so naturally..i pull over...it idles at like 200 and its VERY rough. I take it slow and drive to the closest gas station. NO POWER at all on my way there...like NONE...and my boost gauge was bouncing like crazy...

ok so i worked on it from 3 PM to 6 PM in the parking lot of a gas station...checked the compression...fuel pump...plugs...wires...squeezed the fuel lines (died) so i had some pressure...when i hit the gas it just hesitates like crazy (revs...but hesitates) and the AFM flutters too...

i really dont know what to do at all right now...i took it almost down to the block, and built it back up to see if there was anything wrong and it doesnt seem it...mods in sig...i am trying to sell my car but this isnt gonna sell for more than like 1000 running like this...

could my primary injectors be ****? could my FPR be broken?

it still stuttered, but less after secondaries came on it seemed...would that point to injectors?

please help any way you can...im just tired and have no other transportation

-Matt

take off your AFM and clean it out. Check your TPS, and check your fuel filter, and strainer.

My AFM did that with me... it would be fine then all of a sudden bog down...it was dirty and i guess the flap or whatever would get caught or something. Also, i would pull over and try and wait for it to idle, but it would stumble horribly and want to die, most of the time it would die. Take it off and clean it out.

if its the mass airflow sensor , is it the box right after the airfilter? and how to clean it ? and also is it okay to just unplug the cable and try to run it to see if thats the problem?

yeah it's the chamber connected to the airfilter countainer. Your car will not run without it. Just take off your intake container, unbolt it all. Take the AFM out seperate, clean it out and open up the flap and clean that out also. Install it and hopefully that was the problem.

I was helping Matt with his car today at a gas station today for a couple hours, I was bored and decided I should check out how his thread is going.

His exaust smelled very rich. It smelled like no fuel was being ignighted at all, it was all being thrown out the exaust. It sounds like the problem is very similar to yours.

Im pretty sure it's the AFM, that controls the fuel flow rate. When you gas it our of gear, does it sound like it's trying to suck in a lot of air? Just clean your AFM and the sensor in it and then connect it back, hopefully that is whats wrong. Let me kno if that was the problem.

How do you clean it? Just wipe it down inside? Im not formilliar with Mazda's. I am more used to the Mitsubishi MAS (Mass Air Sensor) Or the non flapper valve type.

it's basically just like a MAF. Yeah just wipe it down, open up the flap and wipe all in side there. simple stuff man, cant go wrong.

Theres alot of junk in the fuel nowadays. Check the filter, and maybe look at your fuel and see if it has any water in it.

i have rtek 1.7...so deflooding is simple...its not so much a problem of getting it to run...its getting to to continue running...and smoothly...

as for checking my gas...how would i do that? if i look in the tank it looks pretty clean...but how do i tell water from gasoline?

and i replaced the FPR. there was NO pressure on the return side...it was actually empty...NO gas came out at all...but when i unscrewed it from the fuel rail there was gas under pressure behind it...but i replaced it with another one (dont know how to test them) and well...its still doing the same thing...

Ok, Im done for the night...right now i cant seem to get it to start. It sputters like its about to start, but seems like it floods itself and dies...then i have to deflood it and try again and it does the same thing.

There was NO fuel on the return side of the FPR, but pressure behind it when i removed it. what would cause my FPR not to open at all? the vac hose is hooked up where it says in the rats nest removal.

i might just not go to school tomorrow...and get the car to my mechanic...i am out of ideas on what to do, and have no time to figure it out anymore.

anyone have any clue what could be happening?

unflooding procedure? like unplugging the inj fuse , while turning over plug it back in?

my MAF is pretty clean but I'll shine it up and try , but I doubt my problem is that though

Since your said it seemed like it was running rich. Make sure your fuel settings in rtek is set right. Check and see if you are getting enough of a spark to ignite the fuel. Its possible that your timing went off. Thats my guess
