Although he's actually in Black Diamond, south of Calgary (so you might not find him in a Calgary search). +1 for Max, his expertise and reputation are excellent - and I understand he got himself a dyno last year, so if you can get on his schedule, he's got the equipment to do it in house.

I've been trying to get Max to tune my car for over 2 years now. He started some work on it but got very busy with his own company and then winter hit both years and I parked it untuned. I would say that he is the best guy around to tune your car but trying to get some dyno time is extremely hard because he's busy. I think he only wants to work on his cars and his friends cars as a hobby but he's always getting bombarded by people with rotary problems that they want him to fix. I'd look around some more because who knows if and when he'll be able to do it. He won't even get back to me and I leave him a message about every few months now. I've pretty much given up on getting Max to tune it.

All the rumors are true lol.
Max had a baby girl, started his own company (not rotary related) and is moving. Those three things has his free time VERY slim. Not sure when the last time he touched his own cars was.
Currently his dyno is nowhere near his residence which makes it all the more difficult to coordinate. His current move will facilitate the dyno which is something I know he's excited about. It's just gonna take time.
If you need a rotary tuned there is no one better in my opinion, but again it's still a hobby for him and takes a back seat to family and business. There was a comment made about Max tuning an RX-7 Specialties motor. I will do my best to not start anything here, it's not a personal thing as was implied. Max will only tune an engine that he has confidence in. His reputation and pride depends on it. Read into that what you will.
So what's the answer for someone that needs tuning now? There really isnt one. I've read enough negative stuff about Lightspeed in Red Deer, and their relationship with RX-7 Specialties is enough to keep me away, other than that? Not sure Davenport would touch a rotary? Reg over at RCTS? It's kind of the negative side to driving a rotary in our part of the world. That's why a guy like Max who spends time building and tuning these motors in Japan is so valuable. I would think your best bet at this point is to buy a wideband, read, read, read, and tune it yourself. More often than not a pretty good tune can be done with a wideband and the street. If your having problems getting the car to run you may have an issue with the install of the EMS. If you do your research and take your time, you can get the car running half decent and wait till Max is setup.
I know everyone is looking for that definitive answer to their tuning needs but it's just not out there...........yet.
