Question Exhaust Question

Hello, I have a question I hope someone in here can help me with.

Right now my 93 JDM RX7 has a 3'' exhaust straight pipe (cat box is there but nothing inside). Other than that, the car is pretty much stock. I want to keep it as stock as possible for now, and work my way up in time. I need an exhaust system that will allow me to pass emissions.

Can anyone recommend a good exhaust with a cat converter on it that will pass emissions? I would like to be able to buy it from here if possible to save time, I really want to drive this car. I saw a couple on the rx7store.net site, I was hoping someone knows if I can get one locally pretty fast.

Here is the one I was looking at:

http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/hkshipower.htm

Let me know what you guys think, or if you have a better suggestion.

If you want to pass emissions, you need a cat, EGR, and an air pump (think thats everything). What muffler you use at the back doesn't affect emissions. Maybe someone can suggest one for you. The only one rx7store has is...

I was hoping the system I picked had one, but I guess it's just the catback and it doesn't come with the mid pipe.

Sounds like I'll take that midpipe, now if only I can find it locally, or I guess I'll have to wait.

Thanks.

From the picture of the one you listed, it does have a midpipe but a midpipe is NOT a cat. It's just a pre-silencer and you will not pass emissions with that.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hope this clears up my emission issues. The car blew 290 NOx. It's running super rich. Hope it's not the ECU.

Best to use the stock cat for emission tests, with that said if you don't have a air pump & EGR valve you will never pass

Unfortunately I don't have a stock one. Do you know where I can get one? Or with an air pump and EGR valve, do you think the high flow cat system will still pass?

If I come by your shop (do you work at RotaryDynamics?), would you be able to install it, and then remove it when emissions are done?

Also, I think I have a grounding issue. My seatbelt light clicks even when the seatbelt is in, and the rhythm of the clicking is the speed that the window rolls down.

For example, if i hold the down button for the window, it goes down, and stops, then goes down a bit more, etc. at the rhythm of the clicks from the seatbelt indicator. Would this also make my engine run rich?

Ok, here is where I am at currently.

My 93 JDM RX7 has a 3'' exhaust on it with no cat. I have a stock ECU and an air pump. I am thinking of purchasing the high flow cat on RX7Store.net. I need to pass emissions, and since I currently have a stock ECU, I need to have a cat on my car.

In your opinion, will it pass emissions with the high flow cat? Is there a place online/locally (Hwy 7/Martin Grove) that I can pick up a better one or a stock RX7 Cat? Anyone selling one? Should I leave it on or should I buy a Power FC/Pettit ECU and keep my current exhaust system on?

I really want to get my car on the road as soon as possible. I'm open to hearing any suggestions.

Thanks.

I have a 3 yr. old high flow cat on an 88 and passed E-Test last year with flying colors.
190,000 kms of fun on the rotors. Engine is Stock TII with Car-Line custom exhaust.
Not sure who makes the Hi Flow Cat.
Good luck with your E-Test.

Thanks a lot. It gives me a bit of confidence to hear that. Knowing me, I'd order the high flow online, and if it didn't pas, I'd just probably give it away or let it rot in my garage.
