does this happen to you?

i seem to have noticed something odd, perhaps its not just me. seems whenever i race M3's, 240s, alot of cars that are decent with drivers who think theyre gold, whenever i pull hard on em an leave em behind they always seem to catch up like 15 seconds later an go blowin by me at like 120+ as im slowin down

so, i tell my friends about this, and today as im cruisin about i end up side by side with a noisy as bike with captain burly on it. make a nice hard 2nd gear pull an leave him behind, see unmarked cop ahead an slow right down an fall in behind. hit the off ramp, as im chuckling about seein the cop just in time to save my *** when i see bike dood flyin up behind me, tell the girlfriend "see its always a couple blocks later they go roarin by, an this ones about to get a ticket"

sure as **** he weaves past me, around the guy in front of me, flys up the cops *** an zips around him. at this point the cop watches him do 2 more fast lane changes doin about 120 in an 80 zone an starts chasin, and i will bet money buddy thought he was racing again cuz it took the cop a fair bit of time to catch him up an pull him over. i kinda feel bad for not hittin the hazards an warnin him but i didnt really think of it till after, an hell no one warned me about the cop i just keep my eyes open. the moral of this story...

the white crown victoria behind you is NOT the same brand of ******* as the little black RX-7 in front of you :P

Angry

I'm sure I'm mistaken and you were driving at Racecity and not on a highway!!!!!

It makes me a bit sick to read about some guy joking about somebody else weaving through traffic about 40 kmh over the limit and how he would have as well if he hadn't noticed a cop. This is how people get hurt and killed.

TAKE IT TO A TRACK!!!!!!!! (and yes I am yelling).

the ricer flyby, a good name for it

i had no intention of weaving, i just did a hard pull in a straight line with an open lane in front of me. which is sort of the nature of the title question. i pull off the lights, beat whatever, whatever flys by a few seconds later drivin like an idiot. i dont go much over the posted speed when i do it, just hammer it an get up to speed pronto an settle in to cruise. the question could have as easily been "when u beat a guy off the lights do they typically fail to realise the race ends at pretty near whatever the posted speed limit is and proceed to continue on like they think theyre the next Lewis Hamilton?" but that woulda made a shitty title

or maybe i just have it all wrong. id always assumed thats pretty much what a race off the lights meant, since theres no set end point and im not the sort of *** lookin for a top end race thru town, the race ends at the number on the little sign, maybe 10 over. porsche guys seem to get it. its like a zen sort of race. top end means nothing, u need to hit that light on time, get the jump, thats point one. u get another if u can get a really good launch without breakin traction an sounding like you're racing. a third point is scored for a clean shift into second, rarely will you see third gear. and the fourth point is scored for hittin the speed limit, be it 50 or 150 first without overshooting it too much an bringin it down to cruise. points are lost for failing to notice the cop in the pack of traffic you catch up to, hitting the rev limiter, weavin around like an *******, braking traction, etc

but thanks all the same for your comments Captain Responsible

yours truely
the ******* in the lil black rx-7
