Niagra falls? That's the long/expensive way (toll roads to get there).
Deal's gap from toronto via windsor = 1,289KM, 13 hours 7 mins
Deal's gap from toronto via Niagra falls = 1,351KM, 13 hours 36 mins, plus probably about $15 in toll roads. (I-90)
Similar, but niagra falls is def. out of the way, windsor is the shortest route.
Plus niagra falls would nearly double the length of my trip there.
Windsor to deal's gap = 9 hours, 920KM.
Windsor to Deal's gap via Niagra falls = 16 hours 14 min and 1,598 KM.
I suppose drthvdr and I could always meet you guys south of cincinatti if you /reaaaally/ wanted to go through niagra falls. It's only a few hours drive from here anyhow.

j/kAnd you don't *have* to take toll roads going through buffalo. I've been down to FL through there many times without tolls. When I went to ellicotville this year I hit a portion of a tollroad (like 2 or 3 bucks) but I think its because I screwed up.
Either way, for me I don't care. I'm going FOR the drive. Longer isn't going to be any skin off my nose. Plus I'm all about the line of cars on the highway, the more the merrier!

I'm up for wherever most people are crossing. Like Joe I could care less how long the drive is, the biggest reason I'm going is to drive my car. And a few bucks in tolls isn't really a big deal when you consider how much the trip as a whole is going to cost. I'm sure I'll be spending at least $1000 this year, so $15 bucks to take a toll road is hardly worth worrying about. Since Ian and Marco drove so far last year I think the rest of us should compromise and take the long way this year. Those that want to take the shorter route for them we can meet up with in Cincinnati. I hate the idea of splitting up the caravan but very few of us are made of money, so it really is only fair that we make it as easy for everyone as we can.
Joe, any word on the extra night in the cabin yet?

my point was that niagra falls is longer for everybody. Even Ian and joe. If you lived right on the niagra falls NY border it's STILL faster to go through detroit. The distances are very similar (we're talking about a few miles of difference in that case) but in noone's case is windsor a longer drive.
I'm the only one from windsor going as far as I know. I haven't spoken to mike in some time but I am sure if he was planning on coming I'd have heard something by now.

ahh word.
Haven't heard on the cabin, last I left it I think she said if she calls me then its not available (for the extra night) - but I haven't heard back and I don't fricken remember.....lol......i'll call this afternoon

The point is that we should all drive what makes it the most fun for us. I don't know why you would want to cross at Niagra but you do. I thought it was a joke when I read it.
Whatever direction we all choose to take let's decide on a hotel / breakfast place to meet at Friday morning.

Well actually I would prefer Windsor, since I'm only 2 hours away, so thats easier for me. But if it would make it easier for others than I'm fine with going through Niagara. But like I said, I'm up for anything.
Take out the fuse and run RWD.
1. Remove the 4WD fuse from the fuse box in the engine bay.
Removing the fues will cause the GTR to run in RWD until the fuse is put back in.
2. While the car is rolling, turn the car completely off (turn off turbo timer) and turn the car back on after a couple of seconds. (Try not to be going too fast when you turn the car off as you will loose the power steering and power assisted breaks.) The car will be in RWD mode until the wheels stop turning, then the 4WD will be activated again.

RWD is OK but AWD is better.
I know how to troubleshoot the problem now. I just have to wait for the issue to crop up again (it'll randomly not engage the 4wd and turn on the warning light) and go see what the code is on the AWD ECU.
but I know about the fuse trick, remember the drift event?
