I would love too, but I'm pretty sure snow will still be on the ground around April..

For those who have never went I would suggest going. Been there 7 times. Lots of fun. I plan on one day attending seven stock though. Missed it this year as #2 child arrived and as you all know there is no leaving during this time . Will not be attending this year as the money will be used for Tuning instead.

Have fun who ever goes to DGRR. For those who do go, there is a lot more then just the GAP to run. Ton's of roads and things to do.

I second what Ian said. This is always a great trip and lots of fun. The Smokey mountains are blast to drive around in, and the views are spectacular. If I didn't have to pay for a house and an engine rebuild I'd be there in a heartbeat. Maybe next year...

I went this year for the first time, hated the 30+hrs driving there and back, but like the guys noted above, it's a must for any rotorhead, cant believe that I want to do it again.....who knows what the weather conditions will be like then. We'll have to wait and see.

Bah, if only it was that short. We were just shy of 30 hours in each direction when we went. Still worth it and thinking about going down for a third time.

Agreed! Its about a 32 hour round trip drive for me and I did it in my Rx-4 with a 4 speed transmission. Poor car was screaming at 4000rpm going down the interstates.

The roads tend to clean out 1-2 weeks before the date every year in my experience. I went 5 times already and only missed last year.

I might be looking to bum a ride if anyone has an open spot. I don't think my car will be ready again this year as I'm not touching it again until I have a proper tranny and have moved the engine back.

I'm thinking I'll head down in Late May just for the drive rent a 1-2 bedroom cabin.
Maybe Nashville/ Memphis for a couple of days to make the trip worth while, take in some blues.
DGGR is out, April weather is just to sketchy.

Yeah, by May I'll have time to shake the cobwebs and bug out of my car after hibernation, without feeling rushed. And the weather will be better.

I'm registered.

This will be my third straight year. I've never seen any sketchy weather any of the years I've gone. Additionally, you're going south. it warms up. I ended up with the A/C on in the car at times during the drive.

Marco, I have space in the car if you need a lift.

I think it's less about the weather down there, and more about the weather up here. When we went down a couple of years ago, we got lucky as the large snow storm had gone through 2 days before we got back, and they had just cleaned up in time for us to make it home. I think it was a week later that year as well.

Ya the weather there is usually fantastic. Shorts and flip flops kind of weather. Its the drive there and back home that can be sketchy. Ask Rick how his fd handles in the snow lol. 2012 was a sketchy drive home.

What a hoot back home that was........push starting fc3s and fds danacing across the hwy in 3 inches of snow.

The weather is unpredictable that time of year closer north you are.

I can't comment on 2012 as 2013 was my first year. But in both 2013 and 2014 the weather was gorgeous.

I also don't drive my 7 down, I take the Speed3.

That said, the trip is always so much fun that there's no chance I'm going to miss it.

Sliding across 3 lanes and clipping the ditch is No snow for this bro, Mid-April is just too early. Beautiful weather down there, it's just getting there and back in one piece with your sanity still intact. Snow tires may be a good option!

I may have a crew interested in going for the late may tour. We will know closer to the date. With cheap gas its too tempting to not go.
