Crossing the border.
Now, before anyone says anything I've done my research and it's just to clarify and make sure I won't get stopped at the border.
I'm going to Buffalo on Saturday with my GF and her family. I was informed of the trip about a month prior, which didn't give me enough time to get a new passport. I do however have a vaild Driver's license, CCC, and birth cert. From my understanding, I can continue to cross the border until 08. I'm just wondering if I'd get held up? I don't want to cause any wait time, as my GF and her family travel regularly and all have passports.
Also, since I'm under 18 do I have to bring a note from my mommy?

LOL!
Having your license and birth certificate are mandatory if you don't have an up to date passport.
However, if you have a slightly outdated passport, with a fairly accurate pic of yourself, they will accept that as well.
Going over to Detroit for the Detroit autoshow, I was the only one without a passport. Gave the guy my license and Canadian Citizenship card. There was no hold up, but my friends were teasing me about the situation. I told them my passport was expired and the customs guy said it didn't matter. It's always better to have a passport, even if it's outdated, then just your license and birth/citizenship card.

My brother entered Washington from BC yesterday with no more than a Government issue Picture ID and a Birth Certificate.
BTW: If you have a criminal record, DONT LIE. They WILL throw you in jail for 10 to 12 days and deport you.
On your 2nd offense, they just deport you.
On your third, they claim life in prison, but they will just deport you because the prison is full.
