CASC Time Attack

Any of you guys looking at doing the CASC Time Attack Series? I have been asked to be a guest Instructor for both the initial Licensing School in April at the DDT and especially for the National Time Attack event at the CTMP Grand Prix Track.

It would be fun to be able to work with an RX7 guy rather than the ton of Honda, Subaru and BMW guys I usually see at CASC Time Attacks.

Let me know.

Eric

I would but I've already committed myself to CSCS and Sigma.

Is the training school for experienced racers who want to step it up to the next level or is it a good way to get into the sport for the first time?

Not this year for me. Looking for a new track car. If I find one I budget only for a few events with sigma. I did try one event two years ago and wanted to do these events last year but having my suspension at bilstein for the whole summer was not cool. I like the new format of casc.

We train as if the person was a first timer. We train at a slower speed at first then bring people up to speed through different sessions watching how they progress and try to help them in areas where they need help. We train people to use the proper braking techniques, how to balance a car mid corner to exit, but mostly how to go quickly safely.

After you can go around a track safely, then you can pick up speed by refining your techniques and starting to push the car a bit harder.

I would be happy to see and work with anyone who attends.

Completeing this school gives you a CASC Solo License and a big step on the way to a race license. Also, it gives you a chance to run in the Canadian National Championships held on the big track at Mosport every August.

What is "DDT" and "CTMP"? Where can we find out about the cost?

Eric,
Are the school sessions at Shanonville (April) and DDT (may) the same things? If yes, would you be doing the DDT school?
I am considering it, since this schedule has the least conflict for me but am unable to do the April school.
The wheels are turning. . . . .

I am helping out with the April Time Attack School on the 17th. I thought it was at the DDT, but it may be at Shannonville, I was told the DDT.

The schools are the same, but the nature of the tracks are very different. Shannonville actuually has some faster corners where there are complicated lines, whereas the DDT is like TMP all brake, point and squirt.

I'd like to be out there in the 13B Miata but I don't know if it will be ready. Failing that I hope to be there in the E30.

What is the minimum safety gear?
