CAS starting issues S4
Hey guys, I recently picked up an 86 GXL
Ive been working away at all the little issues it has, Car was difficult to keep running once started, jumping idle, High idle etc
I got the Tps adjusted, restabed the CAS and it would start and Run fairly well but i knew the cas was still off The car had an searching Idle +- 150 rpm and still took awhile to crank and some missing during reving
The pully was so rusted on the edge you could not clearly see the timing marks
So today I went and pulled the crank pully off Sanded it down reassembled it and restabbed the cas, it started and ran at 400 rpm for about 15 secs then died...
No idea what to check next Car has compression, spark and fuel

When you stabbed the CAS, did you pull the cover off of it and hold the rotor in position? If not, it could have moved a tooth or two.
A hunting idle is almost always TPS or vacuum related though, not timing.

it doesn't ever Die when its running, mike i need the gas can I have a feeling its bad gas/water in the tank its pretty much empty now
Ya i've got the cover off it and i held it when i stabbed it when I got the car the cas was all the way retarded and if you nudged it, it would die I since restabbed it at what i thought was the timing mark and it ran okayish so i then cleaned up the pully and restabbed it again and now it won't start

Being almost empty doesn't help. Might want to fill it up a bit before continuing...
Can you check with a timing light during cranking to see if the light fires somewhere near the timing mark?

So im figuring the car is really flooded at this point its trying to start its sputtering then i pull the egi fuse clear the flood then it'll sputter some more then flood
Im guessing a leaky injector perhaps? Anyone have a good diagram for a fuel Kill switch I'd like a nice clean way to wire it in
Thanks

If the injectors are leaking, it's best just to have them cleaned. If they are that bad then it is only a matter of time before one of them freezes open or closed.
Don't have my Haynes handy, the fuel pump relay is located under the driver side dash above your knee. Just putting a switch in line with the relay coil will do the job.
